Milk Ranch Loop
1 reviews
 5 of 5

I just rode this trail 11/6/07 and it's in near perfect condition. It's within the Cibola National Forest so it's heavily wooded with a lot of short rock sections, and beautiful 360 views at the highest point. Milk Ranch Loop is a very sweet and fast cross country single track ride. 715 feet gained in elevation on this ride but with little breaks in just the right places and fast decent back to the trailhead.

The trail isn't marked that well yet but plans are in the works to have this and all the nearby trails and trailheads marked better.

You can buy the guide at High Mesa Bikes(www.highmesabikes.com) in Gallup. Or order the Gallup Waypoints trail guide (www.gallupwaypoints.com) to find very specific directions to the as yet unmarked trial head about 15 miles Southeast of Gallup. Take I-40 East 10 miles from Gallup to exit 33 then head South on Hwy 400 5.2 miles to a small parking area on the right.

The guide is awesome and lists 20 trails and more have been built since this 2006 edtition.

I read the articles in Bike and Mtn. Flyer magazines about Gallup and mountain biking so I went out to check it for myself. I'll be going back my very next chance.

Summary:
Milk Ranch Loop is a cross country riders deam come true. Tight turns come up quick just when you start to comfortable. Technical short climbs, narrow track, and a fast decent on the finish leaves you with a big smile.

Recommended Route:
Counter clockwise.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
High Plains Trail, Hogback, are ones I rode but there are a least 20 others in close proximity.
