Downhiller Summary: Rode this trail for the 1st time over Memorial Day weekend 2009. This thing rocks!!! You can take it from right at the top of the Santa Fe basin parking lot, or from the rest area just beyond the lookout railing about 8/10ths of the way to the basin parking lot. My friend and I opted for the total ride from the top, even though there was a small uphill portion from when you cross the stream coming from the top parking lot. DO NOT GO STRAIGHT AT THE 1 stRIVER CROSSING. You will be on trial 163 and will be off Windsor. Some clown scratched windsor in the sign and pointed it down , do not be fooled, cross the river. The best is yet to come!
Anway, it is a mix of rock and stump and root and an absolute speed bomb! If you only have 1 day in Santa Fe, this is your trail. If you have two days, do windsor twice!! It will leave a smile on your face from ear to ear!! And grab a beer at the market in Tesugue when its all over, you will have earned it. prepare to get wet at the bottom as you cross the stream at least 10 times. all are rideable crossings! Recommended Route: Take it from the top or be a sissy and start at the parking lot on the left side of the road just past the Overlook railing parking lot. The trail here to go down starts on the LEFT side of the parling lot. If you take the right side trail out of the parking lot you are going the wrong way and will have to hike back out. Left good, /right bad! Other recommended trails in the same area: dale ball trail network is ok, but if you hail from the East coast, as I do, don't waste your time. Bomb the mtn. trail that is Windsor!!

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is the first time I went mountainbiking in NM. This trail is really fun. If you ride all the way up which I tried and starts off near Bishops Lodge Road and Rt 72A. There are multiple stream crossings. be prepared to get wet or hike a bike. I rode through the stream as much as possible. For a midwest who had not acclimated to the altitude I made the climb but it can get to you. The ride down is super fun. Try it! Recommended Route: I initially had a hard tim finding it because there are no signs but the nice people at Melo Velo where I rented a bike were really nice to direct me. You will need to to take Bishops Lodge Road until it ends and then a right turn at Rt 72A and follow this down until it ends and then you can park your car if you drive.

Downhiller Summary: This trail is nice for the everyday uphill ride or the intense downhill fun. I live here in Santa Fe born and raised. I have been ridding this trail since I was 13. I am 16 now. This summer we took my little brother who is 12. Don't get me wrong, this trail is not easy but its super fun. I am not much for the up hill climbing so i only do downhill. Take a good sturdy bike with some kind of suspension or it will kill you on the way down. The weather is perfect there almost all the time durring the summer and even in the fall. I recommend this trail to any one who loves the adrenaline rush of downhill!!! (Sorry for my spelling) Recommended Route: Start at the ski basin and go all the way down to little tesuque village market!

Cross Country Rider Summary: Just got back from doing a cross country trip and stopped in Santa Fe, took the advice of another mtbreviewer and went to see Tom with Sun Mountain Bike Co.(www.sunmountainbikeco.com). Tom was the bomb. Fixed my damaged rear derailuer and gave me directions to multiple trails. I chose this one and it was awesome. It was late Nov. so there was a fair amount of snow, but coming from SoCal I really enjoyed the change. I climbed about 3/4 of the way up, before the snow got to thick, and then bombed it down. Total blast, tons of creek crossings. Breaking through thin layers of ice as I crossed the creek was a new and enlightening experience. Again, thanks to Tom and if you go, make sure to make a contribution to the beer fund, you won't regret it.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Start at Chamisa trail and ride up to the top. when you get to the dirt parking lot for the XC-ski area, cross it and you will see the trail continues on. Drop down for a good descent, then climb back up to the Santa Fe Ski Area, by taking right hand turn and rio en Medio intersection. Go through cattle fence, and in 2 mintues you will be at the top.
There are some log rides and a few rick jumps on the ride down that you will not want to miss. Recommended Route: Out and back from Chamisa Trail head. Other recommended trails in the same area: Chamisa, Aspen Vista Road
