Seven (7) highly groomed, excellent downhill and mountain-traversing trails. Some very vertical. More advanced trails have large and loose rocks. Excellent trail maps available at the base rate each trail in terms of mileage and difficulty. Well-patrolled. Beathtaking views. Good brakes required. Soft tails recommended. Open June 24 each year until October 1 or first major snow.

Summary:
This trail rocks!! I always do the cross country trail. I like the uphill part as much as the downhill. Cardio is exhausting and a 3 mile climb. Very technical in the El Mapais lava rocks. Downhill is a blast. Very tight turns. Runs very nice. The world cup downhill course is a 10/10 technical descent from hell. I bike alot and can not get down this course without carrying my bike in several areas. Much harder than South Boundary or Moab trails.

Recommended Route:
Only one route. Goes by the bunny hill. Climb up. Make sure you climb into the El Mapais rocks. Several options on the downhill. I like the xc course. Black downhill trails are extremely difficult.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lost Lake in Red River, South Boundary, and Elliot Barker.

Summary:
We were up in the are to ride EBT and SBT, and decided to stop by the A.F. Ski Area for a ride before leaving. We were a little apprehensive, because all we could picture was a bunch of overweight flatlanders on rented hardtails trying to emulate a mountain dew commercial.....definately was NOT the case here. Angel Fire is legit, the XC course rocks, and judging by the number of downhill rigs at the base, it gets some seriosu action. I would not consider this a destination place, but good to get a ride in either beofre or after EBT or SBT.

Recommended Route:
XC course from top to bottom will not cost you a nickel. Using the lifts seemd a little outrageously priced, and besides the mountain climb isn't pretty simple, so why spend the bucks and skip the climb? 4 and 5 and 9 looked pretty fun. XC to 4 wil get you to the top...just grab a map in the ticket shop...they are free!

EBT, SBT

Summary:
we rode the opening weekend, memorial day weekend 2003. Backside of the mountain was not open. We still had a blast riding the Dh course as well as the downhill portion of the XC trail. We are going back for the july 4th 3 day weekend. They will have more trails open as well as a 4X track built. We were very happy with the quality of riding so close the texas ( 10 hours ). We stayed at the Angel Fire resort and had a very sort ride to the lift.
Strongly recemmended.

Recommended Route:
#5, #6 and the DH section of the XC trail.

Summary:
Watch out for loose rocks, especialy on trail 6. Also watch out for trees, little dropoffs, ruts, pipes (don't crash on them, they hurt) and sometimes litte ramps mabey in singletrack trails

Recommended Route:
The downhill on the cross country is awsome. Notrecomended for kids. Even though I'm only 12.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The South Boundery Trial
