Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail, unfortunately is closed. NMSU aparently does not beleive in sharing the land they are using. There are so few good trails around here it's a shame they're being closed

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is undoubtedly the best trail in southern New Mexico. Rolling Hills and a lot of climbing that give beautiful views, while offering the challenge of miles and miles of trail. Technically, fairly easy except for the hills of which there are a lot. Be prepared to climb some 1800 feet (total of the ups). There are some 12 miles of trail plus many more 4wd roads. It should be noted that this area is technically closed due to the university security policy, however it has been determined by some in the know that the university is concerned with areas to the north on which cattle are grazed and there is a kind of "don't ask, don't tell" policy towards those "unproductive" areas to the south, which there is little potential for research. Recommended Route: Up the Sidewalk, over to the Cliffhanger, across Duke's Descent, up to Last Hill and down Udo to L Loop, back to Cliffhanger, then back via the Sidewalk, Via Dutra, or Merton's Trail. 3 to 4 hours of greal riding. Other recommended trails in the same area: NDAS

, from Las Cruces Summary: This was a fun trail. Supposedly it is closed now, thanks to NMSU. It was a lot up easy up and downs, with cool fossilbeds here and there.

, from El Paso, Texas Summary: This trail is a lot of fun. I rode this over the weekend with a group of El Paso/Las Cruses riders, we had a ball. There is a lot of climbing the first half, with some fun downhills mixed in. Recommended Route: Take the big loop. The views from the top are unbelievable. If you haven't ridden it before, find someone to go with you so you don't get lost. Other recommended trails in the same area: I've heard Dona Ana's are great, but I still haven't ridden them. Redd Road and Franklin Mountian State Park are great rides in El Paso.
