Trail Directions
take red chair lift to the top of the ski area. at the restaurant at the top take the service road that crosses the green chair lift past the "moonstar mining camp" (get map from lift operater). continue on jeep trail (service road) to gate which you can go around and continue on jeep trail (which is now "goose lake road") until you come to free standing miners cabin on your left. there is a clearing and a "dead end" sign. there will be 4 trail options here....take the 3rd one from the left or the one just right of the "dead end" sign. from here is all single track. follow the trail to the bottom of the mountain. it will put at hwy 578 where the "goose creek" jeep trail starts. you can either have someone pick you up or take a left and ride the few miles back in to town mostly downhill.

Summary:
Very difficult trail for flatlander from TX. The goose lake road trail is extremely steep with so many loose rocks that climbing is extremely slippery. The downhill was also an expert ride. Several creek crossings requiring you to carry bike over water and times when trail becomes confused with other animal paths. For an expert rider - this is a challenging trail. 6-mile uphill followed by challenging 7 mile downhill. Not for the beginner or intermediate rider.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Try the old pass road followed by ride through 4th of July Canyon and down road by Fire Station. The climb is reasonable and the decent was also doable for intermediate rider.
