Yellow Trail

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 3

This is about as technical a trail as you''ll find in NJ, tons of rocks, rock gardens, exposed rock, drops and short climbs - it''s the non downhill portion of the Cannonball trail. The Yellow trail is primarily an out and back trail - however, from there you can try the red, orange, or white trails (each is great) or drop into Ringwood.

Summary:
Challenging!! No day dreaming, keeps you on your toes. Great place to practice technical skills. Rocks, Rocks and more rocks. Dropoffs and more rocks!! Has a couple gorges that are quite rocky.

Recommended Route:
yellow past the lookout, get on blue through the boy scout camp and then to cannonball back.

Summary:
Everyone loves this trail--including me! This is the ultimate technical cross country ride.

This place really kicks my ass. Plenty of rock gardens and a few difficult technical sections where you have to descend on exposed rocks. Not much in the way of extended downhill or climbs sections, but there are more than enough ups and downs.

Recommended Route:
I take it northbound from the upper lotto the ovedrlook. Just past the overlook, I take a right to get on the green trail, which heads down the hill. Then, hook up with the Cannonball trail (red) to head back.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Ringwood

Summary:
One of my favorite trails in NJ, the Yellow trail off of Skyline Dr is a great technical out and back trail. Tons of rocks, rock gardens, exposed rockface, drops and short climbs. Also able to connect with the Red, Orange, and White trails (all great) - or drop into Ringwood.

Recommended Route:
Take the Yellow trail (about 1/4 mile past the parking lot on the right) out to the lookout and back.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Red, Orange, white trails - can get to all of them off of the Yellow trail.
