Cross Country Rider Summary: Fun mix with a lot of variety.
Total Beginners should stay on the outer sections of the trails.
It has something for everybody.
If you are thinking about going here, come and check it out- I have seen sponsored MTB'ers riding the hard sections of trails, and 8 year old kids riding on the intermediate trails.
I love riding these trails. Recommended Route: Starting out at Newman's Lane Parking Lot. Other recommended trails in the same area: This is the best trail in Central NJ.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I am a visitor from Atlanta ga. Rode this trail yesterday June 25, 09. Chimney rock is a mud pit. It does not drain water well at all. I know it had been raining. I didn't enjoy the trail much. I wish i had a local tour guide and a drier trail. I just went out and rode all over. Got in about 12 miles. Some good uphill. Maybe next time i can hook up with some local. Recommended Route: don't know Other recommended trails in the same area: Hartshorne near Sandy hook

Weekend Warrior Summary: i used to ride this a couple times per week when i lived in cranford but now i live in nyc, and it is definitely one of the best places in the metropolitan area. i would love to get down to hartshorne woods more often as well. i just rode chimney rock on 5/25/09, it was just how i remembered it. i am not a rockstar by any stretch of the imagination and find myself unclipping a lot but the park and my bike push me to be a better rider. i can imagine how fantastic it must be to ride it complete. there is something here for everyone, rock gardens, tight singletrack, good climbs, mud, watercrossings, log crossings, roots, did i say roots? it is where i learned to mtn bike and it still thrills me. Recommended Route: any of them, although i do like the red and blue lines. Other recommended trails in the same area: hartshorne woods on the shore, not quite in the same area.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I love this park. I can't figure why the reviews are all over the place. It seems that riders suited to rail trails are attempting more serious riding beyond their skill level. I could understand complaining if the park promised easy riding, but no one has done that to my knowledge. I'm an older guy, in his upper 60's, and can ride all of what's here.( I do have trouble getting up the embankement after crossing the stream). I used to ride here with a hard tail (pre- full suspension) and it was fun then as now. The short of it is that if you enjoy rail trails, this is not the park for you. If you like challenges of logs, rock climbs, etc.: come and play! Other recommended trails in the same area: None. Most of my riding is further North. Ringwood, The Jungle and Wawayanda.
