Cross Country Rider Summary: A decent park for bikers since there really are not too many MTB places in Ocean County, NJ. Lots of sandy areas, very peaceful and enjoyable single track. Mostly flat with an occasional uphill and downhill. The soft ground keeps your legs pumping however so it is a good workout. Bring your OFF or favorite mosquito/tick repellent. Lots and lots and lots and lots of ticks!!!!!!!!!! Check yourself carefully every few miles. Overall, not a bad place to do a more relaxing bike ride. Do not expect anything extreme...other than the ticks. :) Recommended Route: MTB trail is the orange blaze trail but feel free to roam. I have never seen a hiker on the trails. Never saw another biker for that matter either. The white blaze trail, is longer and a lot less sandy but it has some areas where you have to get off and walk. Other recommended trails in the same area: Still searching. Going to try Double Trouble State Park in the next week or so....

Weekend Warrior Summary: The bike trail is a pretty good ride after you get past the first mile or so of soft sand. The few down hill areas are cool. For a more fun ride you can turn off the trail and go onto the penn trail which has some more aggressive terrain. I know you are not supposed to ride there but I have never saw anyone hiking on it. If you do venture off the main trail bring bug spray! I think they have guard dog chiggers and there are alot of them. All in all not a bad ride if you are in the area

Weekend Warrior Summary: Wells Mills offers a 3.2 mile hike/ATB use trail, of varied terrain. Soft dirt, composted forest leaves, hard sand, loose sand, grass. There are some small uphill areas, of course some downhill, a few twists, and a short zone I call the "Hall of Trees" which is lined with saplings 1.5 times as wide as your bike. The trail gets your heart pumping a bit (but then I am 44!) The trail crosses over creeks, and ends up with Wells Mill Lake on your left as you almost complete the trail, with some beautiful views, and some Hawks/Eagles soaring overhead. Beautiful for NJ! It is a full function Nature Park with boat/canoe facilities, fishing, playground/picnic area, and 3 story nature center, manned by a Naturalist. Very nice park to visit. Recommended Route: Wells Mills County Park, Waretown NJ

, from Metuchen Summary: Nice single and double track throughout. Nothing very challenging, mostly flat terrain. Pretty easy ride. The sand can be a bitch sometimes. Good place to take a first-timer or the family. Recommended Route: Once you park, just head straight for the back, past the courts and picnic benches.
