Cross Country Rider Summary: This was a close spot from Port Jervis to go mountain biking. I was able to navigate through the 615 Rt. to find Blue Mountain Lakes. A beautiful double track with several wonderful views as pay off between easy ups and downs. Bring a snorkel, mask and fins in the summer as this site has two lakes with crystal clear mountain water. Simply amazing views and pristine water features, I have not heard such quiet in a long long time. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere in the Transatlantic region who wants an easy and rewarding ride. This Cleveland Oh country raised boy gone back upstream says, "Go hit it hard and find the sweet spots to hang." Hours to explore, quiet and pristine. Ancient American Indian trail lookout on route, must search to find (keep going).
Also check out the Appalachian Trail (continue on unpaved 615) and Crater Lake while you are there. Worthwhile and wonderful views. Quality. Quality. Quality. Recommended Route: Take Rt. 615 from off 206 from PA or NJ. Other recommended trails in the same area: Just go hit it where ever. Indulge in the mundane. Seek and you shall find. Explore, expand and leave no trace. Happy trails.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I rode this trail last week and it was pretty decent. Stayed on the main trail and encountered some short, but good uphills and some good downhills. Lots of tall grass, fallen trees, small logs and low trees. The trail isn't very challenging, but an enjoyable ride that will provide a little bit of a workout.
Check out Indian Rocks to the north/west of the lake. Excellent view! Go for a swim in Blue Mountain lake after the ride.
Watch for bears! I saw a bear cub on the side of the trail. It went running into the woods once it saw/heard me.
The sign/map posted at the beginning of the trail states that no mountain biking is permitted. This may be old information. I wasn't about to turn around after driving up there. Call the park for information if you want to be sure. Recommended Route: The main trail is marked throughout and is a good ride. I didn't go on the "unmaintained" trails. Ride around Blue Mountain lake is short, so if you want a longer ride, go all the way up to Hemlock Pond. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon when I was up there and I only encountered a few people on the trail, so don't worry about crowds.

, from Stanhope, NJ Summary: At Blue Mountain Lakes, approximately 10 miles of pulverized stone trails are available for mountain biking. Loop can be made taking the higher road north to Hemlock Pond and around and then back to Blue Mountain lake on the east side. Alternate trails exist along the gravel road. Map can be found at http://www.nps.gov/dewa/Activities/Multiuse/mapBML.html Hemlock pond is a great spot to sit on the large rock at the southern end to have lunch. This trail is easy and side trails are good to explore. Recommended Route: To get there - cars can only enter this roa from the west, along Old Mine Road within the recreation area. Vehicles can NOT reach Blue Mountain Lakes Road directly from Stillwater NJ to the east. Parking lot is right on Blue Mountain lakes road.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Stokes and High Point - trail and roads combined to bike a loop around both parks

Ridden Trail: Please Select

, from Columbia, MD Summary: There are about 15 miles of abandoned "woods roads" that were put in by a developer. An 8 mile loop is "maintained," meaning that the trails are kept clear and erosion is controlled and there are several more miles of unmaintained abandoned roads that feature fallen trees, high grass, leaves, etc. The trails are very much up and down riding. They are fun - you can really get some speed up - and the climbs will give you a very good aerobic challenge. Trail surface is generally fine ground rock or hard, embedded rock. The scenery is gorgeous - stunning views, especially from Indian Rocks - 2 clear mountain lakes repleat with resident beavers, old growth forest with many mature trees. Stunning riding during the fall. The trails are generally intermediate to beginner level, technically speaking, but aerobically challenging. One or two rocky sections close to Indian Rocks that are somewhat technical. Mostly roller-coaster ups and downs through beautiful terrain. Thoroughly enjoyed these trails. Recommended Route: Blue Mountain Lake trails

, from New Jersey Summary: Mountain Biking in the Deleware National Forest is only permitted in the Blue Mountain Lake Trail system. Please ride only on these trails and obey the no bike signs that stop you from continuing down the ridge. The dirt roads in Walpack Valley are open to biking as well. There is an extensive multi-use trail system under proposal and should happen if the MTB community respects the rules of the park service. Recommended Route: Blue Mountain Lake
