Fire Point, Battery Point and Rocky Point Loop
1 reviews
 4 of 5

The trails are mostly fire roads with 4-5 miles of intermediate single track mixed in. A fast ride for advanced and intermediate riders and a challenge for beginners. Excellent views of both western and eastern sides of Lake Massabesic. Lots of big pine and large boulders.

Trail Directions
You can make a nice loop if you park and start your ride from the Massabesic Park off By-Pass 28. From the parking lot ride south on bp28 1/4 mile to Duschanes Rd. on the right. Follow Duschanes Rd. (Fire road) down the hill until you reach the gate continue through the gate and follow the trail until you get to a point (excellent view of western half of lake). From the point the is a single track trail (Fisherman's Trail)on the left. This will return to the fireroad where you agian follow another single track (Fire Point Trail) to the beach and then to Deer Neck bridge (BP28). Cross the bridge and make a left into the boat launch parking lot. Continue through the gate and follow the fire road (Battery Point Trail)all the to Battery Point along the waters edge. From Battery Point you can continue along the waters edge on the Battery Point single track to the ledges. From the trail go to right up over the ledges and then left to the Adubon Trail (double track, fast if riden in the opposite direction) this trail will end at a fire road and you can continue across the fire road and onto another single track (Horse Shoe Trail, more like horse shit trail but I'm trying to be polit)which will loop you back to the Battery Point fire road. Go left to return to the Deer Neck bridge. Go right on BP28 across bridge and up the hill, on the right is the Rocky Point Trail (gated fire road, fast with alot of loose rocks and gravel, fun) this trail will return you to BP28 across from Duschanes road. Make a right to return to Massabesic Park. If thats not enough there is more single track along the waters edge on the north end of the parking lot.

Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
I actually ride here 2-3 times a week during the long summer days after work. It's close to home and really beautiful scenery. Sheeps Nose is a great place to watch the sunset over western Massabesic. I'm going to give four chillies, 1 for the views and 3 for the trails.

Recommended Route:
Follow the route described, but in the reverse from the Deer Neck bridge. Also from the Deer Neck boat launch/parking if you enter between the boulders and then make a tight right up over the steep bank there is also bunch of short and technical single track up there with some nice drops and jumps for more advanced riders. Also on the west side of By-pass 28 are the Sheeps Nose trails with maybe 1 mile of additional single track on the north end of Sheeps Nose.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Rattlesnake Ridge and Canfeild Cove are just south of Battery Point and Deer Neck and can be combined into loops around either side of the lake.
