Mt Charleston DH-Long Run

Average Rating:    (4.67 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 3

This is a really fun Downhill trail. The ground is reasonably soft you you don't really need to wear upper body armor here. The first part is really high speed with a few sharp turns. There are a lot of trees on this trail, so do wear gloves so your knuckles are not screaming bloody murder when branches smack them. You will reach the road again quickly. Cross the road and ride up the street to the dirt Overlook. The trail starts up again from here. As you descend you will reach a fork. Go left and you get a good long trek through the trees. Go to the right and you chop off about 3miles but get some good technical downhill. No scary drops just lots of rocks scattered about in a wash.

Summary:
First I have to give a shout-out to the folks at Las Vegas Cyclery for recommending the ride, thank Kurt! Ok, Wholly Sh%#t Mt Charleston's DH is AWESOME! That ride made my weekend, all DH, fast and flowy, jumps, tight turns and some loose stuff too. BTW-I rode it on a Specialized Cambie 29'r. It totally competes with the Upper part of the whole Enchilada in Moab. If you are in Las Vegas, this trail should be you're first trail. Another Shout-out to the dudes that shuttled me up to the Hilltop parking lot. You guys rock! If I would have had to ride up the trail, well that would have sucked...

Summary:
The trail is very looses so expect some lower tire pressure. The ride is well worth it with only a 5 min drive up the hill, and a 30 min decent you really cant beat it for what it is.

By request I have coordinated for the endings of the trails.

The cowboy trail aka "short run" ends at a large gravel parking lot. The coordinates for this lot and the trail end are below.

All the other sub trails end at the same location, which are all long run trails. The end location is a of to the side dirt road which circles around a couple of trees. Often referred to as "the tree". The coordinates for the end of these trails and the common parking area are below.
