Big Dog Valley Loop

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 1

This 25 mile loop starts at the base of the Bull Creek Trail and runs a 7.5 mile climb up ~1,800ft. to the Meadows on the west slope of Peavine Mountain. You then head north via mostly jeep trails toward Border Town. As you crest a hill, you will see White Lake and Cold Springs in the far distance. You immediately turn West and head directly for the California border. Intermixed with jeep trails are some very fun and technical free ride single tracks with rolling whoop sections with banked turns following down a deep wash. As you cross into California, you cross make a few different creek crossing heading North again. After a short distance, you can either take a fun, but sandy single track off shoot trail along the side of the creek or follow the jeep trail before making an immediate turn West up a brief but very grueling ascent up ~500ft. in less than 1/2 a mile. You then begin to follow Southwest toward Dog Valley. After a long rolling ride you end up in the East end of Dog Valley. Cross the entire South end of the valley heading West and you end up at Dog valley Road. Make the climb out of Dog Valley and you have a very rocky and rough dirt road descent into Verdi. As you cross back into Nevada, you have a plush pavement ride all the way back down to the Bull Creek Ranch Trailhead on Hwy. 40.
