Boulder City Mtn bike park

Tight single track that weaves all over the mtns. Deffinatly not a beginner friendly trail. there are all kinds of jumps, sketchy switchbacks, nasty sections where if you veer off trail you are completly SOL. The trails are very well built and maintained. Brent Thomson is the dude that built them, so if you see him out there which you probably will let him know that his trails KICK ASS.

South on 95 out of Vegas. When you get to BC the mtn you will be riding on is just off to the left of the highway as you come into town. It is the one with the radio towers on it. I am not real sure how to get there by name of streets, just keep driving toward those radio towers unitl you see single track.

Summary:
this trail is know as bootleg canyon. best trail in Vegas and the best reason to come back. i was at the cowboy trails and was told i had to go to boulder city to ride bootleg. i stopped by all-mountain cyclery to get the 411. i had gotten three sidewall tears and all mountain cyclery sold me a new tire and filled it with stans for cheap. the shop had maps of the area and showed me the route to go. i had a blast. there was lots of climbs but you were paid back in the great descents.

Recommended Route:
i rode middle lakeview down lower lakeview. cross the jeep trail to west leg to caldera. then headed to boyscout and then back on east leg

Other recommended trails in the same area:
cowboy

Summary:
Boulder City is kind of the best of everything. Don't expect any trees though because there are none. The only thing to cushion your fall is rock and cacti. Aside from scenery there is something here for everyone to ride. There are long and short XC trails that all network together. Everything is hard pack and rocky. Their are some Semi-downhill XC trails (they start out descending steeply and then gradually level out and become less aggressive). All of the DH trails start off at the same point and then split out from one another. The DH here is pretty gnarly. If you're gonna ride it wear all the padding you got because if you fall you'll be thankful you have it. Most of the DH stuff is double or triple black diamond. Being an amateur rider you can just walk your bike around the big nasty drops or really gnarly rock gardens and be just fine. If you're new to this region ride Snakeback->Sidewinder->Snakeback (this is blue square rated). Then ride Snakeback->Sidewinder->Reaper (single black diamond). If your a crazy freerider or a really wild downhiller the triple black diamond trails will give you a real run for your money. The great thing about the downhilling out here is that once to reach the bottom you can ride the XC trails that connect to it (if your not shuttling).
-There is a large BMX style jump park (both big and little jumps). Snakeback Upper (DH trail) goes straight into a which makes for a really fun ending.
-There is a Kiddy jump park with tame jumps in a tight high speed course. Perfect kids getting into BMX'ing, or just fun to ride to hone in your jumping skills for the big trails.

Recommended Route:
Take the 95 to boulder city. Turn left at the Bootleg canyon sign. There will be a few more signs just follow their directions and they will lead you to a dirt road. Drive on the dirt road for about 1/4mile and you'll arrive at the parking lot.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Boulder City (Bootleg Canyon)
-XC: Girlscout, Boyscout, Caldera, Lake View (both of them)
-DH: Snakeback, Reaper, Diva

Mt. Charleston
-No truly dedicated XC
-Tame DH with reasonable amount of pedaling. Great scenery
-Fun to do with lots of friends to switch off shuttling

Summary:
This is Vegas's best kept secret , I've lived in vegas for 10+ yrs and heard about bootleg canyon park, just never got there till this year, haven't been anywhere else since, I was getting tired of same old trails at cottonwood and mt charleston, long rides to st george or brianhead, although very nice trails too, Bootleg really doesn't have a beginner trail per say, meaning if it's your first time on a bike and want to go out and think your'e really mt biking, you will be thrown into reality real quick,. these trails will improve your technical riding and give you the guts to go down drops and switchbacks you would never have imagined before, they will test out that 1500.00 dollar bike you bought and make you fine tune it for these runs, I luv this place, been here 37 times well make that 38 cause i went today also, nothing better and nothing more satisfying than coming out unhurt and ruling the mountain trails

Recommended Route:
i usually start at girlscout as a warmup , it will definitely get the blood flowing and the lungs cooking, than to caldera which has a couple technical spots but some fun downhill , once at the bottom theres about a 3 mile loop back to the top, than down the west leg, a downhill which is sweet with drops lots of rocks, obstacles and riding on the ledge, than to Mother a nice trail by this time you need to really focus to keep from falling off the ledge and not endoing head over on some drops, than to p.o.w. a nice little loop up to IMBA back to the West leg , by now the legs should be shot, and your'e riding on a ledge with tons of boulders in your path but you trust your bike and the way it is set up , once you get past here it's all over and life is grand, wait about 45 minutes and do it again.....

Summary:
I've been riding these trails for the past couple months. At first I had to force myself to go here instead of cottonwood because I didn't have the skills to ride most of the trails. Nice maps, trails are well marked. The first time out I didn't care too much for the obstacles but around the third visit I started to effortlessly roll over terrain that used to make me stop and dismount. The climbs on caldera, boy scout and skyline challenge both your tech skills and lung capacity giving the ride everything I look for in a morning mtb adventure.

Recommended Route:
Convenient parking on Veterans Dr (parallel to hwy 93) puts you at one of lowest points of the trail system. From there ride north east to the west leg to girl scout to caldera then head back using the other side of girl scout and west leg. Take "par none" to get back to vehicle quickly otherwise take IMBA to P.O.W.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Cottonwood, both north and south of hwy 160.

Summary:
WOW! I just moved here from CA. on Aug. 5 2003. Wasn't I surprised to learn that Bootleg Canyon is Literally in my back yard, and that I can ride my bike there from my condo.
I have only been here about two weeks, but I have already ridden there four times.
I've been riding the cross-country courses and have improved my riding dramaticaly in just two weeks. This course is not for beginners. I would have to agree with another reviewer, that you should be at least a high level intermediate rider, to begin riding here.
Also; there are yellow rocks showing where the down-hill courses cross. Please slow and look up (on the mountain) for low flying aircraft (bikes), before crossing these areas. The life you save may be your own

The trails took a hard hit during the latest T-storms, so please help out by clearing loose rocks from blind curves, rather than letting someone else find them the hard way. You probably will have to dismount at these damaged sections anyways, so PLEASE take a few seconds to help maintain the trails. The more people that help, the better and easier the trails will be to maintain.
Other than that; have a blast!

Recommended Route:
Buy a map from the local bike shops and explore.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
If you take the River Mountain Trail down to the Muti Use Trail and Drainage Canal (its paved), and head for Lake Mead, it makes for a fun and weird down-hill run. You can slalom on the banks and go t
