Old Spanish Trail

The trail starts from the shop, heads east out of town, and starts with a nice little warm up climb of about 1/2 mile on double track, then turns to nice singletrack, then back to doubletrack for a couple of miles with more gradual climbing, make a right onto singletrack, you will do more climbing for about 2 miles, then cross through a dirt parkinglot then climb some more singletrack for about a mile, then you will hit a section of singletrack known as "Viagra", it's about 3 miles of out of the saddle sceaming singletrack through Joshua and cactus, that dumps you out onto a dirt road for about a 1/2 mile til you take a right onto more downhill singletrack, which takes you back to town.
Take I-15 south out of Vegas to the highway 160/Blue Diamond rd, the Silverton hotel and casino is right at the turn off, head west on 160 til you get to the Red Rock recreation area/highway 159 turnoff and turn right. Drive another 3 miles to Blue Diamond, Turn left into town, and go about a 1/4 mile and you will see the bike shop on your left. Park at the shop, and start your ride.

Summary: Apparently there is a lot of lobbying for BC. I say leave the politics for the politicians and go ride. Blue Diamond is a good place to ride and so is BC. I have lived here for the last 4 months and I never see "crowds" of riders in Blue Diamond...Try southern Cal for the crowds. And Oh, by the way, the folks at Blue Diamond Outpost are very cool peeps. Stop by for some water and say hi.
Recommended Route: Go to Blue Diamond Outpost and start there.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Cottonwood Valley, Boulder City, Mount Charleston area...it's all good.

Summary: Eric is a bonehead. This "trail" is anything but worthy. Don't waste your time. The last thing Blue Diamond needs is more mtn. bikers crowding its streets, especially when the ride is such a sucky one. Please don't waste your time on it, instead you should proceed directly to the Boulder City Trails, do not pass Go, do not collect $200. BC will reward you amply upon arrival!
Recommended Route: not recommended
Other recommended trails in the same area: Boulder City trails
