Excellent trail located just southwest of Fremont, NE about 35-40 minutes from Omaha. The trail is like a roller coaster in spots and some pretty tough climbs out there. This area is very scenic and cut through a bluff along the Platte River. Riding along the Platte and crossing the rope bridge was great. The trail is mostly marked with orange tape and tough to navigate is some spots but I was able to figure it out. I would highly recommend it.

Summary:
This is now my favorite trail to ride in the Lincoln/Omaha Area. It's located just outside of Fremont, NE and is pretty easy to get to, well worth the trip. What is so great about Calvin's Crest is the trail FLOWS like nothing else. The trail builders do a terrific job at maintaining and updating the trail. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Summary:
I have ridden this trail once a week for the last 4 weeks. I am a beginner type rider so I don't really have a good grasp on what a great trail should be, but this trail rocks in my opinion. The THOR group that put this trail in last year did a great job!! The first part of the run is like a rollercoaster as long as you let it go and don't brake. They used the natural contours perfectly. There is plenty of climbing but there are only a few small ditches that I (a moderatly talented novice) navigating without getting off bike and walking a few paces. Great scenary, Platte River, church camp cabins, deer every time we have gone. Nice job THOR!!!

Recommended Route:
Do it twice, only 4.2 miles each.

Summary:
This is my favorite trail at the moment, mainly since its a new trail but also because its a fun trail as well. The trail has some tight tree's to navigate through in areas along with a trail layout that uses the contours of the terrain to give it a good flow. The climbs are easy for the most part except for one tight swtichback on the tower climb but the rest is moderate climbs. The downhills are flowy and fast but keep yours eyes focused down the trail since this trail has lots of twists and turn around trees. There is a roller coaster hump that can throw the unexpecting rider off the bike if they are to far over the bars. I really like the way the trail turned out and know that it didn't build itself and I thank those who put in the time and effort to provide us such a great piece of Nebraska single track!

Recommended Route:
Park at the Basketball court and ride the gravel road south toward the main buildings, stay right along the trees and follow the orange flags and markings on the grass. Once you see the trail drop into the trees be prepared to make a hard left hand turn into a quick whoop section, then enjoy!

Summary:
Calvin Crest is a jem of a trail situated on the southern bluffs of the Platte River just south of Fremont NE. The trail starts at the top of the bluff an winds up and down its terrain in three connected loops. The trail is well thought out and constructed. It often travels through pine trees on "ridgelines" reminiscent of Colorado riding if you use a little imagination. There are alot of rollercoaster rides (best one is right out of the gates!), off camber downhills and climbs, and of course a swinging bridge crossing. The trail is soft on the edges, especially on the downhill side of the steeper pitches. The last halfmile or so is a moderate climb back up the bluff to the parking lot. A great workout to round out the ride! A couple more log crossings would be a welcome challenge, but overall this is turning into my favorite trail in the area!

Recommended Route:
Park by the basketball courts, then ride down the gravel road towad the bluff. The trail is currently marked with flags in the field above the bluff, untill the trail is broken in. When you get to the bluff, the trail makes a hard left the main hiking trail that can be easy to miss. Check Camp Calvin Crest's website for days that the camp has private events. This is a Presbytery Camp that is sharing its property with us. Represent other riders and ride with respect!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Platte River State Park, Swanson, Tranquility, Jewel Park
