Cross Country Rider Summary: This was my first ride of this area but I have to agree with the previous reviews. This place could be Epic but that would require active riders and trail maintenance. When I rode in mid November the only evidence of travel was from cattle. That's good for some trails but it seems like only cows travel this trail. I did see a couple foot prints but it's hard to say that anyone even puts a bike down in this area. In that regards it was very far from smooth, almost unridable at times and very overgrown...at least Nebraska is smart about the grass height and puts up huge poles for trail makers. I will say that I was on my cross bike and maybe if I had my 29er the trail would have been more enjoyable. Well only so slightly. My bikes are geared the same and the tire size is not that different...I've got some biggens on the cross'er. Recommended Route: It could all be awesome if only someone or something maintained the trail better than the hoofers Other recommended trails in the same area: Chadron State Park has some good trails and possibility but again it goes to trail maintenance and quality.

Weekend Warrior Summary: This place has potential written all over it. Really. But they do not maintain the trails, and it is hard to stay on track. Parts of ride go through pine covered buttes that reach almost 5000ft in elevation I think, then drop down into meadows. This is usually where overgrown grass makes the lack of maintenance on the trail a problem. If you like solitude, this is the place for you. Decent ride, but could be a lot better, definitely. Recommended Route: This is the worst part. Trying to find the trailhead. Get a map, cause they make them for that area of bike trails. Coffeemill butte is what we did I think... Other recommended trails in the same area: Ft. Robinson St. Park, Chadron St. Park, Wildcat Hills St. Park., Trails in the Blackhills, etc.

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Boulder, CO Summary: We started just east of Chadron State Park and rode east from there on the Pine Ridge Trail (not actually in the NRA, but part of the same trail). There are white sign posts to follow, but sometimes they are confusing because you can go different ways. Bring the map suggested above. We found some good singletrack in the first mile or so, but after that the trail disappeared in a overgrown meadow (we could only follow it by the sign posts) as it climbed up a steep hillside. Then we rode a dirt road for a few miles before turning around. It could be a good trail if there were more people riding it and/or more trail maintance was done. Maybe some other sections of this long trail are better. Recommended Route: Don't know - I wouldn't recommend most of what we rode Other recommended trails in the same area: Chadron State Park - short but sweet
