Awesome trail, but short. Fairly strenuous climb up to a sweet descent, rolling, cool jumps, fast creek crossings.

Summary:
As others have pointed out, this is a great 'quick trip'. I drove out to Truman Gulch last night for a quick evening ride. The ride lasted about 35-40 minutes up and back. I stopped at the clearing before the climb over to middle cottonwood.

The beginning of the ride is fairly easy. Nice rolling wide trail. The trail slowly gets tougher, though. There are a couple of short (150 yds max) climbs that made my heart pump pretty good, but since they're short, they're do-able for even beginner riders.

The ride back down was a blast. It's very easy to pick up a lot of speed coming down the trail. Lots of roots and small rocks to fly over. :)

Recommended Route:
Take SpringHill road North from I-90. Go about 8 miles and take a right on SpringHill Community Road. Take a right at the church and then a left on Forswall road. Follow Forswall all the way until it ends at the trail head.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Moser Creek (up Hyalite)

Summary:
This is a very good trail to go visit for a good evening ride if you don't want to drive too far. The trail starts out as a smooth rolling singletrack, then gets a little steeper, rockier, and very loose. After about 1/2 mile of that, it goes straight up along the creek and is VERY steep, after which you end up in a basin just below the top of bridger bowl. The trail starts to switchback after the meadow, and you can follow it over to middle cottonwood, although I haven't made it this far and I don't think much of it is rideable on the way up.

Recommended Route:
up and down(make sure to hit the last creek crossing fast, it's sweet!)

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Sypes, Hyalite Lake, Emerald Lake.

Summary:
Short, but very fun, out and back trail. The ride up isn't too bad. The trail is well maintained and smooth, not many technical sections. The way down is an absolute blast. You can pick up a ton of speed on this trail, but be wary of the occaisional hiker. I about took out an old lady coming around a corner.

Summary:
This comment applies to the drive in. The last quarter mile or so is on a pretty rutted road. If there is much chance of rain after you drive in, I highly recommend you consider parking at the junction just prior to this last section. If it rains while you are parked at the trail head, there's a very good chance your car will be stuck there until the road dries. It doesn't take much rain at all to make the last part of this drive a real problem.

Hyalite Lake (not the reservoir)
