Cross Country Rider Summary: I frequent Moab, and this is still one of the best trails I have ridden. Not technical, but rolling and fast. Overall: really, really fun.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Mt. Helena Ridge Trail begins 5 miles from downtown but you can S-T it all the way back to Mt. Helena City Park.
go down main to grizzly gulch road. past characol ovens , quarries, and homes . turn rt. at Y, left goes to unionville. go up grizzly gulch on DR 4 miles to Nelson gulch road (AKA park city???- i didn't see a sign) RT turn to t/o for TH in about 1/4 mi.
when in doubt keep RT.
TH is called Park City????? but can't miss it. this begins Mt.Helena Ridge Trail System wich is part of Helena NF. It is attached to but seperat from Mt Helena City Park trails to which is connects.
starts with challenging ST switchbacks which leads to other ST, and jeep trails. Passes thru meadows , ridges, and forests for 5+ miles back to Mt. Helena overlook. several side trails dropout back to Grizzly gulch road. If you ride all the way to Mt. Helena City Park Trails there are several different quick descents (1100' in 2 miles or less) to DT.
do it as a loop (+/- 12 miles) or O/B.
i ride from downtown and arrive back DT, tired but satisfied.
the climb is about 1100' but you do it gradually after initial swicthbacks.
