Cross Country Rider Summary: the ride up is a simple affair, 10 miles up a forest road with a slight grade to reach Mystic Lake and Cabins.
at dam at lake you can take a 3 mi. ST back dwonhill which is as tuff as they come. steep grades, roots, rocks BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY the ST carries along steep hillsides. An unfortunate encounter with a baby head could send you plummeting down a 50 degree slope with nothing to hold on to but your faith. these sections are short , less than 1/4 mi., so intermediate riders should walk it. rest of ST is ridable, but challenging.
ST joins main trail for 5 mile coast back to TH.
note: going up at about 5 miles up from TH you come to bridge and will see signs for ST. skip it. in my opinion ,judging from descent , ST would be ridable uphill by only the tuffest and best amongst us. cross bridge to continue up FR. there are signs all the way for Mytic Cabins.
1300' elevation gain over 10 mi to lake.
