Swope Park MTB Trail

Average Rating:    (4.4 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 5

Swope Park MTB trail is a trail that has some of everything for everyone.

The trail is a stacked loop that has varied surface from smooth singletrack to rocky goodness. Some minor exposure (20 - 30 foot limestone bluffs) along a few sections of the trail.

There are some grueling uphills but also some sweet downhill runs with switchbacks along the way for some twisty fun.

Recommend riding clockwise around the loop but can be ridden anyway you want to ride. You'll get a workout either way.

This is a relatively new trail system in the KC area and there are plans to eventually have about 16 miles of trail in this system.

Summary:
I must agree with the other posters, Swope has something for everyone. Lots of fast twisties and great technical riding. I think we rode about 9 miles our first time out.

Recommended Route:
Rancho-d-lux counter clockwise is fast with a few small jumps. Loads of fun. Take the high road on Wudchuck Run on the west side of oakwood and you won't be disappointed if you enjoy the rocky technical stuff.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Landahl

Summary:
Sweet single track that snakes it's way through a dense forrest. It has a bit of everything. Some lung busting climbs, some fast downhill and a few challenging technical sections. This trail is also typically very well maintained and the builders are constantly adding new sections. I believe that this trail will eventually connect to the Blue River Park system. IMHO this is the best trail in the Kansas City area.

Recommended Route:
The circuit is a loop that can be ridden in either direction.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Blue River Park, Landahl.

Summary:
Tight, twisty and fairly technical. This trail is very well built and expanding. 7 miles of this trail and you will feel like you rode a lot longer than that. Lots of rock. Some difficult little climbs. The 8 Pin section (named after 8 pins in someones wrist if that gives you an idea) is a rocky, rooty tech section. If you can ride it clean, than you are pretty good.

Recommended Route:
Either way. Clockwise or counter.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Landahl, Smithville, Stocksdale.
