Variety of differnet trail conditions and skill levels overlooking the Missouri River. Very steep climbs and downhills on Motorcycle trails. Semi-dangerous riding on the bluffs with very steep drop-offs. Alot of Rocks.

Summary:
This is a great area for sport-advanced riders. Not really suited for beginners (Unless you are taking your buddy out for the first time and want to have some fun watching him eat it on the downhills!!). *NOTICE*
The last time I rode here, conservation agents told us the area is closed to all motorized vehicles, Including Mountain Bikes!!! They were very cool about it and treated us with respect (They could have smacked us with some tickets, but didn't!). They told us they are try'n to stop the ATV's, Dirt Bikes...etc from riding back there and destroy'n the land (Which wouldn't be a big deal if those who rode, came back out and did some trail maintanence / upkeep.) It has been a while since I have rode at Sun Bridge, maybe it has re-opened to MTB's!?! Until then, Krug will keep me busy with the new sections of trail and never ending climbs and downhill runs!! Props to the person or persons cutting the new trails and maintaining the old trails at Krug!!

Recommended Route:
From the gravel road, head to your right, you will pass an old grave yard...then into some screaming fireroads which drop into a choice of very steep downhill runs. Heading right (With the river on your left) will bring you to one of the best views of the entire area. Check out the view then swing around and head back keeping the river on your right side. There are a lot of trails / routes to choose from off of the double track (Covered-Wagon strip).

Other recommended trails in the same area:
-Krug Park (St Joseph, Off of St Joe Ave. I believe)

Summary:
The trails are pretty fun and for the most part, well kept. The trails seem to run north-south in a narrow corridor along the river bluff, between interstate 229 and the river bottom. The hills that are there are mostly pretty steep and fun on the way down, and pretty impossible on the way up (at least at my intermediate skill level), though it was still fun to see how far up I could get before losing all my speed and falling off the bike. The more level sections still have some good little ups and downs and twists and turns. There are rocks only in a few sections; it's mostly dirt trails with some roots. The whole trail is pretty fun, in my opinion. The only problem was the spider webs across the trails -- more people need to go ride and keep the spider webs out! That's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars.
The hills would be pretty tough for beginners, but I think anyone else would enjoy this trail.

Recommended Route:
not sure -- only rode it once. I took the trail to the right (north) of the clearing at the beginning, and wrapped around back to the left.
Just a note on getting there -- I think it was called "Sunbridge", not "Sun Ridge". Also, it's about 1.5 to 2 miles north on Huntoon road from where you get off I-229.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Krug park is good, though I haven't done it much either

Summary:
The "Covered-Wagon" trail...This is the supposed path that the wagon trains followed to the amazonia river crossing. It is a flat bet rock outcropping at the base of the bluffs. This path is level all the way south to the current river front park. If you would like to see the beds without much trouble Mcarthur drive runs along the beds right side. The sunbridge trail itself can be a nice leasurely walk for the highly modivated. however the lower trail is not suggested for someone that cannot handle steep climbs or unstable terrain ( I.E. thoes who walk with canes or anyone that needs any other assistance walking. )If you plan to walk this trail, do not do it alone and take all other reasonable precautions. ( Water, Good Hiking boots/shoes, whistles or air-horns incase of emergency.)

Recommended Route:
follow the path leaving north from the second gravel lot. Follow the trail north past, "Felix's Grave." The path will wind north for approximately 3/4 of a mile. along this strech is several openings that overlook the Missouir river valley that are beautiful during sunset. The path then will begin a steep downhill climb that will bring you to the old "covered-wagon" beds. headed back south, there are several areas in which to begin your accent back to the top of the bluff and back to the parking area of "sunbridge." The trail can be anywhere from 4 miles to 10 miles round trip and can be very rocky at times.
