HONEY RUN
9 reviews
 4.78 of 5

Located in Lake of the Ozarks state park. A 3 mile contour singletrack trail connects to 2 loops south which is great for beginners 3 miles in length all nice singletrack. Climbs are no more than 30 verticle feet. This loop goes around the honey run creek valley. North loop is an intermediate contour single track route through cedar groves, along the honey run creek and overlooking lake of the ozarks. The four and one half mile loop also winds through the rolling hills of the park. There are many sections of hand and DINGO benchcut trail that flows great, all center front chainring riding. This is the first of hopefully three phases that just may have a route along party cove.

Summary:
This was my first ride in Missouri. Took a while for me to find it but once I found "A" road it was pretty easy. The ride did feel like it was a slight downhill for the most part. I kept wondering when I was going to get hit with an up. The trail was very fun for me, kind of like the trail that got me into mountain biking. I'm sitting here looking at my bike and all the mud caked on it. Next order of business.....cleaning. The ride was just under 14 miles at 13.63 and like they said before.....intuitive. Get on the trail and go and you will get out of it what you put into it as far as pace. I plan on taking my SO on this trail although at a much slower pace. Not very technical though but still fun!

Recommended Route:
Only rode this once.

Summary:
I went down and rode this trail last weekend. It flows real well, it seems like I was always going downhill. If you are looking for a technical challenge this isn't it. If you are looking for a fast fun ride it is hard to beat. A little more challenge would give it a 5 but I rate it a solid 4 for the fun element.

Recommended Route:
Start at the small parking lot follow the signs. I had never been on this trail and didn't have a map but the route is very intuitive. This trail was very well planned out. The 1st loop feeds right into the next one, it is real smooth.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Binder in Jeff City

Summary:
Trail is awesome. The connector trail is fast, without any big climbs and armored pretty well. Make sure you have a trail map and if you need to bail after the connector, just take a left on the dirt road and it'll intersect with McCubbins, take a left and your at the trailhead.... I dig both loops usually only ride one however.
This trail can be an easy ride or a hard ride depending on how aggressive you are. Most of the time I ride hard and fast, but lately the leaves are covering the trail and there are sections you REALLY need to be able to see what's under the leaves. Be cautious in the fall.

Recommended Route:
Connector Trail, North Loop

Summary:
Trail is officially open!

Please do not ride (especially the South Loop) when it is wet! Someone has done some damage that we have to repair, but other than that the trail is in great condition.

Recommended Route:
Start at "official" trailhead, ride Connector to South Loop (clockwise) to North Loop (clockwise) and back on Connector.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Don't know.

Summary:
Just finished riding HONEY RUN [9-24-06] .This trail is as good as it gets.It was one of the best rides that Ive ever been on. Hats off to the "LAKE GUYS" that laid it out. IT ROCKS! I was riding a Gunnar single speed w/ 34-16 gearing and it was fast, fast, fast .The trail flows perfectly with enough challenges to keep you on your toes. This trail is as good or better than any top rated trails in the state including Berryman and Council Bluffs. Every mountain biker regardless of skill level needs to ride this trail its a fantastic ride.

Recommended Route:
every inch!
