This is a twisty little set of singletrack built on municipal property. It's tight and largely hardpack, with lots of roots and embedded rocks to bounce over. There are several constructed jumps that will let you air it out.
Take highway 13 north of Springfield. The easiest way to find 13N is to get there from I-44 via the Kansas Expressway/13 HWY exit. Take 13N for about 5 miles and you will see a brown parks sign pointimg left (west). Turn on this drive and you'll enter the park area. The trailhead is easily found in the chat parking area on the right. There's a sign and an information board with a map that you can't miss.
Summary: First of all, I've submitted new coordinates to MTBR.com. Should be changed soon. Trail is northwest of town, not smackdab in the middle of Battlefield Road. Copy these coordinates into Google maps search bar to find the right place: 37.289521,-93.33744
When you are looking for the right turn off MO-13, there's a nice SAC Trail sign on the highway, but be ready to turn, its only about 100 feet from the intersection.
Date ridden: July 21
Time of day: 9am - 10:15am
Weather: Low 80's, humid. Rained 2 days previously but trail was in excellent condition.
Trail Summary: Outstanding trail construction. Appears quite durable and well maintained. Varied surfaces of crushed stone, terraced rock, hardpacked dirt, exposed roots. A few small stream crossings. Short climbs with frequent elevation and direction changes. Basically no long, flowing sections but several short sections can be linked together. Outer boundary trails appear to be the straightest, with inner trails being narrower and more winding. Trail width in the trees varies from singlewide to doublewide with a single middle track. Multiple areas in open meadows are a single trail with a very narrow tire track, probably only 6" wide. Seems easy to navigate. Nice boundaries on most sides. Study the Google map before riding to pick out landmarks, such as the river on the west and the cell tower site next to the east boundary trail. All sections are very ridable but enough of a challenge. Could easily spend a few hours weaving through the inner trails.
Recommended Route: As the guy said below, you can start with the outer boundary and then work into the middle.
Tick Count: Zero! A surprise considering the dense woods.
Noxious foliage: No poison ivy or oak noticed. Most trails have a nice border of grasses. I still used a poison ivy removal scrub when I got home, though.
Mosquitos: None seen.
Other bugs: The spiderwebs were INSANE!! I'm sure this had something to do with the time of day and season, but I've never run through so many spiderwebs. What are they trying to catch, deer? I honestly must have hit 500 strands or webs, most of them carrying big momma spiders. I'm sure I scared them more than anything, but jeez. I stopped every few minutes to wipe the webs off my face and pick the spiders off my jersey and frame. I found two big ones inside my helmet on the way home. Next time, I'm either going to go later in the day, or ask a buddy to ride ahead of me. I'm sure it will get better later in the summer as well.
Other recommended trails in the same area: I've just moved here from Tulsa. I've been riding Turkey Mountain and Keystone on a hardtail for the last 10 years. Very similar riding surfaces. SAC looks like it would be fun with a supple XC full sus bike. Turkey definately has more trail mileage with lots of varied terrain. Oklahoma appears to have a better racing series.

Summary: Well the good news is that they did connect Ritter Springs with Sac River trails. The overall rating is right on. This is a very good ride. Definitely not epic but this little park has enough diversity to be versatile enough to satisfy most any biker. Me I hate climbing hills on my bike I just wanna go fast down once I get to the top. A buddy and I go and take the loops backwards from most by going counter clockwise up the road leading in from the east or trail next to the road. This is just a short little gradual climb that takes you up past the tower and then pretty much peels you face skin off from there down. Good rocky, bumpy, bone jarring sections mixed with the smooth, loamy, fast single track the will get you heart a pumpin. I would recommend it for beginners that want to get their feet wet and the advance junky that needs a quick fix every week. I live very close to this park (I can spin to the trialhead) and see lots of bikers there. The area kinda has a cult following for this park and we are very proud of the trails. If you in the area vist Queen City Cycles and they can tell you more about it.
Recommended Route: Choose you own adventure kinda place. Good news is that all roads lead to Rome or home which ever you prefer.

Summary: I went to this trail not expecting much. I figured it would be some smooth multitrack through the woods with no climbs and nothing interesting. Boy was I wrong. This trail is loaded with short little loops that will challege your riding skills with technical uphills and fast downhills. The hills are not long and drawn out, just short ups and downs so you never really get tired. I could spend hours out here hitting drops and climbing over rocks. What a blast.
Recommended Route: Go to the middle and just randomly turn at intersections. Entertainment for hours!

Summary: I spent about four hours on this trail and have to say it was one of the most fun and challenging experiences I've had on a bike. I missed the kiosk with a map at the entrance, definitly check ou the map before your ride. Your first time in take the outer loop, I rode clockwise. After you make it back to the lot head out again and you can spend hours crisscrossing the place. Some of the trails are quite technical, I was glad I brought a Yeti with 5 inches of travel because I used it all. Met someone on a similar bike and realized it was me, the trails wind a lot like that. There are some tough hill climbs, some hairy, rocky descents, nice views of the river and some fast fast sections you can really open up on. Was suprised no flats, lost of locust trees here. Also had to dodge hedge apples that drop from Osage Orange trees. Only complaint is some trails are sunk down enough I felt like the slot rider in the new Gary Fisher advertisements. This trail does get some use. Never seen such a well developed trail, good job folks!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Sign said a south section is in the works that will connect to Ritter Park, can't wait for that.
