Great beginner trail, goes on for many mile, some mud and there are a few creeks to cross. good trial for the girlfriend because not extremely hilly or extreme
Its off 435 between the grandview triangle and state line road on 435. get of at the holmes rd exit and head south tell you get to an intersection with burger king on one side and amaco on the other(3 stop light from highway) left on to redbridge road, follow RBR unitl you cross a RED bridge then youll see a park sign to the right, turn in there then follow road to a cultasack.trial begins there.
Summary: Although, I used to feel that this trail was not challenging enough for the type of riding that I enjoy, they have recently added some new sections that are challenging for just about any rider.
Basically, most of the easy trail are west of Blue River rd, while the more challenging trails are east of Blue River Rd(you have to pass under the road to access those trails.
The most difficult trail will provide you with plenty of practice climbing ledges and jumping off of up to 4-5 ft dropoffs.
Recommended Route: If you want to visit the more challenging trails, I would suggest parking along Blue River Rd. just south of Red Bridge Rd. There are some tennis courts and parking at this trail head. Follow the trail southeast until you hit a very small creek crossing. If you follow the creek for about 30 yards east, there is a bridge(Blue River Rd) that you ride under. The entrance to the more challenging trails is just on the other side of the bridge.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Landahl (blue springs) is bigger, better, but a little further out of town for those that live in KC.

Summary: I think I already reviewed this trail, but it was under a different name. Anyhoo, this trail is sweet. After riding most of the trails that Kansas City has to offer I have to say that this one takes the cake. Only improvement I see needed is marking the trail with some visible signs(I'm a pretty good map reader and sometimes I feel like I'm in China whenever I try and figure out exactly where I am out there. Never fear though, keep riding and you'll always come out near a road sooner or later). Whether you're wanting to take it slow and stay on the easy singletrack or you're looking for some hardcore technical stuff with plenty of rocky drop-offs and such, then you'll find it out here. Anyone from the novice to the pro can have fun. Hands down the best trail for all-around riding that I've found in Kansas City. Though definitely in a toss-up with Landahl Park for challenging riding and just plain fun, the only reason I like these trails better is because of the constant scenery of the river and wildlife. When I say wildlife, I don't just mean the occasional horse you might come across. The last time I was there I came across 2 sets of deer on two different occasions and partially ran over a wild turkey--nothing I could do, damn thing came out of nowhere. Have fun people and make sure to wear a helmet--the rocky parts can get ya if you're not careful. Here's a trail map for you guys and gals: http://earthriders.com/trails/trail.php?s=mo&file=blueriverpark.xml
This website will have anything you want to know about the trail.
Recommended Route: You're gonna need a trail map for this one. Start at the main trailhead(118th and Lydia) and head to the #4 trail. Don't be afraid to cross some rivers. It'll give you a chance to test your technical side. Don't worry the water usually never gets over a quarter of the way up your rims. Head south down #4 to go through the "Little Moab" stretch. After you've passed that, cross the river again(the map will sorta show you where to cross--look for the little red lines) to get to the #2 trail. Once at #2, take the #2 or #3 trails(#3 will lead back to #2, its just a little more technical) down until you get to the RR tracks. Cross the tracks and after a short distance you'll find a short steep downhill stretch on your left. Take that and ride it until it spits you out into the river again(don't worry its actually easy to cross, just aim for the dry spots. you'll know what I mean when you get there). This will lead you back to the #4 trail. From here I like to take the #21 trail down to the power substation(get ready to test your technical side). On your way back up, change it up a little by taking the #10 and #11 trails. They are sometimes challenging as well. Have fun and be safe.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Landahl Park--Just as good as Blue River/Minor Park if not better.
Smithville Trails--Great trails near the lake. During the summer there is some good scenery on the boats ;)

Summary: In the last couple of years Blue River Park (Minor is only a few yards of KCMO park) has come in to it's own. As Racer X mentioned, Rob and his band of merry trail stewards work their tails off keeping this place spick and span. There's everything from old rail bed for the beginner and speed demon to technical and/or rocky and nearly abusive. Personally, it's my favorite place to ride in the metro area. From mid-town it's 15 minutes. Check out www.earthriders.org and look in the trails section. It'll be listed at Blue River Park. You'll find maps and more info.
Recommended Route: If you're a newby, stay on the main trails in the low lands. If you're itching for fun, hilly and technical trails, head East of Blue River Rd. or south of Blue Ridge.
Other recommended trails in the same area: In the KC area...

Summary: This place used to suck now it is good. Best trail in the KC urban area by far. Landahl is better, but it is not convienently located for everyone in this sprawled out burg. Plus landahl is getting rediculously crowded on the weekends as the years pass.
Recommended Route: You're on your own here. Study the map, ride with someone in the know or just have a go. There are many different routes and some dead end or make for unclear connections. Start at the bridge at Blue Ridge Road or 117 and Lidia. Stay away from the Minor Park entrance. You've got no business there. Try to get on the east side of blue river parkway, these are the old horse trails in the bluffs, but some fine people added some great new singletrack and the old horse trails are getting smoothed out from the bikes. There is one climb/decent that is at least 200 feet vertical. Pretty decent. Also, on the south side of blue ridge road is the wagon wheel and some other trails. Good stuff. Be mindful of the trains and don't try to cross on the railroad bridge. That's a good way to get waxed.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Landahl, Shawnee Mission Puke, Clinton, River Trail, Lake Perry, 4 winds and HH (Lake of the O), Load up and head to Colorado....
