Lions Club Trail

3.something-mile singletrack loop. Brand-spankin new, built early in 2003 by the boys at Route 66 Bicycles and their homies. Big thanks to Lions Club for letting them use the land. I am going to classify it as "extreme" because it's going to be an extremely cool trail once more people start riding it.
Highway 63 south...go past walmart, go past Kmart, Lions Club Park is on the left. Look for the big a$$ lion statues. Go in the park, stay left, park in the 2nd parking lot by the playground crap. Trail head is thru the grass on the left. There's a sign that marks the trail head so look for that. It's right in town, so anytime you are going thru Rolla, stop and ride the trail!
Summary: Pretty good trail if you like the twisties. Very very twisty and lots of switchbacks and pretty flat the entire time. Not gonna give you a hardcore workout but it's definetly worth doing a few loops if your in town.
Lot's o' fun
Recommended Route: Run the way it says to run
Other recommended trails in the same area: Berryman, Honeyrun, 4winds , bittersweet

Summary: here's a little update on this trail:
by the end of october 2004 there will be a new section added on land that was recently annexed by lions club. work is in progress right now and we hope to be done in time for a fun race on october 16. the new section will be mostly open field with more man made obstacles and still 100% singletrack.
Recommended Route: the trail will still be one big loop so you can go either way.
Other recommended trails in the same area: north trace creek is s w e e t

Summary: If there was one word to describe this trail, it would be twisty. Since this trail is in town, they didn't have much space to squeeze in 3+ miles of singletrack, but they managed it somehow. i get the feeling that at any given point on the trail, you could walk off the trail and cross another section of trail within 30 yards or so. but you don't notice it, unless someone is riding by. picture a plate of spaghetti.
The result is no straightaways more than 50 yards long. it is a fast trail, however you can't maintain high speeds for very long. you really have to be agile on your bike, as you have to dodge trees all over the place. not very rocky, but there is the occasional rock or small tree stump in the middle of the trail that will cause your wheel to side-step. some pretty fun root sections, creek crossings, and an interesting man-made bridge are the highlights of this enjoyable and convenient-to-Rolla trail. a definite must-ride when in Rolla. also while you're in town, hit up the Route 66 bike shop and chew the fat for a bit.
Recommended Route: This trail is such that you should do it once each direction, and could easily continue to do more loops until the sun goes down, at which point i imagine that it would be a great night right.
Other recommended trails in the same area: nevr ridden Mill Creek, but i'd say to head southeast a little bit and hit up Council Bluff and Berryman, or head north and ride Binder Lake in Jeff. City!

Summary: Short, but great. If your in Rolla it is well worth the time to ride. Fast a twisty. If it was longer I would have rated it a 5/5 - but being only 3.5mi I give it a 4/5.
Well designed trail
Recommended Route: There is only one.

Summary: The trail is really cool if you like tight, twisty singletrack. 3.5 miles of fun twisties. Nothing technical on this one as far as rocks, logs, drop offs, and other "extreme" stuff. Just a great trail to go and hammer, while working on your bike handling skills. It will certainly challenge your turning abilities. I've only ridden it once, and it was after a rain. Seemed fine except for a few spots. Loads of props go out to the guys at Route 66 bike shop. Nice to have an in-town alternative to Miner park.
Recommended Route: ? just follow the guy in front of you. It's a loop, really hard to get lost.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Miner park, Berryman isn't too far away, Council Bluff
