Landahl Trail

Much variety, never a dull moment. Several loops, making this trail a short 45 minute ride to an all afternoon type ride.
From I-70 exit Blue Springs on 7 hwy exit. Go north on 7 until it narrows to two lanes. Take a right on to Argo Road. Go through stop sign, past rifle range, and on top of a hill there are parking lots to either side. Take the one on the left. Trailhead is north of parking lot.
Summary: I dare anyone to find a better trail within a 500 mile radius... This is the best trail in the mid-west period. Ride it!

Recommended Route: All but my fav is rim to daves to family to will's (dont forget the swedish offshoot) to tastey goodness then up the access road (yea, it seems strait up). Awesome flow and great tech riding. Check out my vid starting in the parking lot thru the first section of Rim Job.

Summary: It's always interesting riding the trails around the country after reading reviews. I've found it's a real hit or miss. Usually, I take locals' reviews with a grain of salt as they normally are a little biased. In the end you either get a real dog, or you find a gem. In this case, it's a gem. What a blast. One review I read said that the trails have great flow. I think that is the best way to describe the park. This is a well thought out and well built trail system. Because of that, I would agree that Landahl is one of the best biking parks around. It has something for everyone. At other parks, a lot of trails which are labeled technical are not much fun or have sections that are really unreasonable and seem to be built by 18 year olds who heal quickly. However, even the "most difficult" sections at Landahl are well thought out and are rideable all the way through.
While the difficulty level signs are very, very good, it does get a little confusing in spots where several trails meet. I did bring a map, which is posted on earthriders.com, but found that I didn't take it out of my pocket because I was having so much fun and it really didn't matter where I was - eventually you will find a sign which points to the trailhead. There are also sections of trails where I kept thinking I must be going in the wrong direction (ie going uphill where it would be more fun to go downhill). However, that is not really a downside; it will just take riding the park a few times to become more familiar with the trails.
Fun ride.
Recommended Route: Try all of them

Summary: This is an amazing trail system. Tastey Goodness is one of my favorites because it has all the best things about Landahl all on one trail. Tastey has just been expanded by 1/2 mile which now makes this trail about 4.5 miles in length. Tastey starts off on a brief climb with just the right amount of limestone rocks to travel over or jump off of as you meander your way up the hill you will travel through a small glade of cedar trees, which I enjoy. When you make it up the first hill your in for a fast descent down into the beautiful old growth Missouri forest. Once you make it down you will have several small armored ravine crossings some mighty fine tight, twisty, fast, flowing trail with a couple of small climbs up the hills. You will then come to an intersection where you will want to hang a right and be prepared for a steep twisty downhill that will dump you into a scenic creek crossing. Be prepared to be in a small gear when you make the creek crossing to make it up the other side of the river bank. You will now meander along the top of the creek on some twisy singletrack that will take you up to another cedar grove of trees. You will come to another intersection which is a lollipop loop of about two miles. I reccomend turning left. In about half a mile you will come to the newly added trail where you get to a nice healthy hill where you will have a challenging turn around up a limestone rock where you will enter a play-ground of limestone drops of one to two feet in a section where you get to choose your line. Once you are done with the playground you get to descend down a fun contoured downhill and cross a small creek and then make small climb to the original trail. You again will have the pleasure of some nice tight twisty trail that meanders its way up to yet another play-ground of drops and limestone rocks. After the playground a tall cedar-grove awaits you with a picturesque pond below you. Now your ready for a fast descent back to the lollipop entrance and you can return back to the big creek crossing and either retrace your steps to the intersection at the top of the hill and come back the same way you came to the Argo-Road trailhead. Landahl has at least 20 miles of this type of trail awaiting you. It is worth the drive from anywhere your coming from!

Summary: Wife and I rode here this past weekend(Sat). Had another trail planned for Sunday, but knew it wouldn't compare to these. Fast and flowing with great switchbacks in Dave's Maze to technical in Rimjob and Gun barrel. You can ride for a short time to all day, and depending on your route, it doesn't have any monster hills. It flows great! The difficulty levels are posted very accurately. Family trail is not for the family to go and put the pull-behind stroller on. It is in fact kind of technical with a few very technical off shoots. Only reason it is marked green, is that it is not as tight as the others. These trails can be as hard or as easy as you want to make them and that is why they are so great. Make sure and print a map off of the internet(earthriders.com has a pretty accurate one). The kiosk at the park did not have one. As the trails are marked pretty good, there are enough things to get hurt on and if you have never been there, you won't know which way to go to get out. That's just me being picky. It was well worth the 5 hour drive. Thanks to all that work on this trail!
Recommended Route: From the lot, take the jeep trail to Dave's Maze. Go in on the right and follow to Will's Wanderer. Take that into the Tasty Goodness and loop it around. That should get you warmed up for the Rimjob and cool down on the family trail back to the jeep trail you started on. Didn't make it over to the Turkey Trail, Death Drop, or Little Moab. Did all from there over though.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Only had the weekend and nixed the Sun. ride to come back!
Summary: Great fun for all skill Levels, but we have all heard that before. This trail has exactly what your looking for! Jumps, downhill, climbs, gaps, easy strolls, tight treelines etc... and yes, other riders. This trail is no secret, get out here and get'er done!
Recommended Route: I had my faverite runs, til I explored the rest of the of the park, now I have new favs. SEE IT ALL! DO IT ALL! my run changes every time i go and never the same ride twice. Find " Mikey's Tantrum" and "the Gun Barrel" and then tell me there is something better round here, it just wont happen.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Minor and DeSoto, wish there was more :L(
