Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: The map is wrong as the trails are on the south side of campus. Go south on coliseum across highway 6. You will run into the gaurd shack at the whirlpool plant. Park and take a right down the dirt road to the trails (most drop off the road to the right but there are two that drop off to the left). We rode 10 miles and still didn't hit all of the trails. Very fun with some tight sections, decent downhills, good climbs. Recommended Route: Nothing is marked and several run into each other. Stop by the Oxford Bicycle Company (north side of campus) and pick up a map. They will sell you a laminated one for $5 but it is the only way to find all the trails. Fruit Loops is only one of about a dozen trails. Other recommended trails in the same area: Rode in Oxford the day after Thanksgiving then Rode Stanky Creek in Memphis on Sunday on the way home. It is much flatter but fast and fun.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Nice fast, rolling singletrack. Some good technical areas and places to catch some air. Great location so you could combo a clear creek ride the same day, or go to Tupelo or Memphis for additional rides. Recommended Route: We had no map. We just rode trails both ways until we had enough. Other recommended trails in the same area: Clear Creek, Wolf river trails, Herb Parsons

Weekend Warrior Summary: Fantastic ride. And so easy to get to. Right off Ole Miss Campus. I ride these trails on a KH24 Mountain Unicycle with 170mm cranks because they are very hilly. Very entertaining. Well maintained. Plenty of man-made extras for kicks. SPRAY FOR CHIGGERS!!! I rode it a couple of days ago, forgot to spray, and I'm absolutely miserable right now. Recommended Route: I like them all. In the hot stillness of summer, Fruitloops can be a bit stifling because is sort of down in a bowl. I did the Log Trail recently and loved it. But they're all fun. Other recommended trails in the same area: Stanky Creek in Bartlett (Memphis). Herb Parsons. Clear Creek (Sardis Lake). Wolf River trails in Memphis for XC.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Fruitloop is an overall good trail. There are several more shorter trails in the immediate area and Fruitloop is the best of them all. Beware of all the spider webs, especially on the less ridden trails. Recommended Route: Good driving directions to trailhead. Once on your bike, ride down the railway for about 1.5-2 miles; Fruitloop is the last trail on your left. Other recommended trails in the same area: This trail is much better (and closer to town) than Clear Creek. Plus it has less "wildlife" to contend with!

Cross Country Rider Summary: very, very good riding once you find the "fruit loops"...very well maintained, except for some fairly unkempt off-camber sections...just enough to make it challenging, really. One thing, though...the singletrack entrances are easy to miss while you're cruisin' along the railbed...there are a couple on each side that are almost concealed from the railbed. Look hard, though...once you're on the singletrack, BOY, it's worth it. Not quite as much up and down as nearby Clear Creek, but fine riding, and a little better flow. Looks like it would be really nasty after a rain...lots of creekbed/bottomland riding, but some that is elevated from that as well...overall very fine riding with a well maintained trail system, just needs to be a little better marked. Recommended Route: From the Whirlpool truck entrance, take the powerlines down to the railbed and make a left. Start looking for singletracks left and right...find one and explore. Other recommended trails in the same area: Clear Creek on Sardis Lake, Trace Lake in Tup/Pontotoc
