Ridden Trail: Every few months

Weekend Warrior Summary: The trail maintenance has gotten a lot better and there are numbers posted for each trail. I believe there are eight in all. They all interconnect. Remember they are not mile markers. There are good rolling hills for Mississippi and it flows well. There is 5+ miles in all. Recommended Route: Turn right when you enter the park and look for a sign "Burning Sunshine Bicycle Trail" on your right. Park there and begin! Other recommended trails in the same area: Fruit Loop trails in Oxford, Pine Torch Loop in Wren, Alabama, and Oak Mountain (Birmingham).

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: On Sept. 2, 2006 my wife and I rode this trail for the first time. This trail needs some serious maintenance. A lot of the markers are gone. We started out to ride the three mile portions but ended up riding further because the trail marker was missing and we got onto a longer trail. We ended up pushing our bikes up and down washes more than we rode. This trail is not for beginners. I think an advanced rider would have trouble with some of this trail.

Weekend Warrior Summary: On Saturday Oct. 08 05. My son and I rode the Burning Sunshine Bike Trail. We had a blast and enjoyed the fast flowing switchbacks. If you enjoy switchbacks (like we do), you'll enjoy this trail.
Nothing too technical or hard, just fast and flowing!
I can understand a comment in a past review about some parts trail might be hard to follow in the fall. We'll be back! It's only an hour away.

Weekend Warrior Summary: The "Burning Sunshine" trail is a really fun, well-maintained bike trail and it is a shame that previous reviews gave terrible directions and some of you missed out.
It is a really smooth singletrack trail and its previous description as a "roller coaster ride" fits well. The beginner may have to get off their bike a few times but intermediate and advanced riders who can maintain speed on the downhills will have no problems and will have a blast. It basically goes up and down the side of gulleys and has some nice touches such as wooden bridges and a few places to go airborn.
My only critism is that there seems to be several loops but there are only little colored arrows that tell you nothing about how long you are going. Therfore, getting lost and going for a while is definately a possibility. If anyone maintaining this trail reads this, please post a sign that describes the meaning of the arrows. Otherwise it is a terrific trail and I plan to ride it each time I go down to visit the parents. Recommended Route: The directions posted previously really stink and if I did not grow up in this area I would have never found it.
The trail is NOT anywhere near Elvis' birthplace or the "big hill". It is at the Elvis Presley Lake and Campground in East Tupelo.
Take Veterans Blvd or Hwy 78 to East Tupelo and take a right on Elvis Presley Lake road - in between the two convenience stores (follow the big wooden sign). You will take a left off of this road to get to the park so watch for the green sign to turn left.
Once you go by the gate and by the entrance shack, take an immediate right and you will see the trail entrance, sign, and bridge with a small parking area right after the chain link fence. Other recommended trails in the same area: There are no other trails I know about in the area.

Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Tupelo Summary: Trail is more than 9 miles now. Fun single track. Some tight and technical, but newer sections are longer and faster. There are a few trails across the road in the center of the park that are not as well marked. Small area so you should not get lost. Good for all levels. Beginners may take at least 1.5 hours. Advanced riders can do most of the trail in 1 hour. Recommended Route: Start at the little useless bridge by parking area. Trails are pretty well marked from that point. Other recommended trails in the same area: Trace State Park in Pontotoc, 20 minutes away has mucho, mucho riding too. Some bike/hike only and some shared with motos and horses.
