The Secret West St Paul Trail
2 reviews
 5 of 5

This trail is short but very intense. It switches back and forth across the river wall four times and is deseptively dangerous. It is very narrow at the start and looks smooth so you tend to go really fast. Then before you know it you are skipping along trying to slow down as it gets very steep and rocky. the next two legs of the trail are fast and fun until the middle of the third leg, then you have to skirt around a 10 foot wide 5 foot deep wash. The last 150 yard leg is super gnarly with lot's of grey shale embeded in the ground and strewn all around. I have riden this trail 15 times and have not been able to climb more than about half of this part of the trail on my Ellsworth Truth. I am sorry I can't give the location of this trail as it is a very delicate area and there has been a backlash against the bikers in the Twin Cities recently. One of our best Trails that was created and is kept up by bikers may be taken away from us by the "walkers" who feel that it should be theirs.

Summary:
This trail is too short (1/3 mile) unless you link it into a larger Minneapolis/St. Paul urban loop. It is as described above and climbable on an S-Works FSR XC M5 but so far not with an Intense Tracer. Five flaming bricks.

Recommended Route:
Up, then down.

Summary:
I have seen the Trail!! Rejoice, we'll all be saved soon enough from these trailwalkers. If you want the secret garden this is the place to ride. Their is no other freeriding like this in the midwest with chutes, ladders, berms and endless singletrack.

Recommended Route:
To find, ride up and down the side of the river until you see the forty footer dropping from the retaining wall.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
psycho, castrationway, riversidepark, mnpls.downtownurbanassault, orgasmoalogicalfalls, bughill,
