Cross Country Rider Summary: It has been a while since anybody posted a review of this trail, and I saw some of the so so comments. Probably good because it keeps people away.
But, this trail is absolutely wonderful. The kind of park that I want to ride everyday. Go here at least a couple of times a week. The climbs are nice and steep, so wonderful workout. A couple of really nice switchbacks. Plus, about six expert level downhill parts where you have consecutive solid drops. For those that just want standard cross country, there is some of that. So, this trail is as good as you are going to find in an urban area - think of it as interval training. 1/3 solid climbs, 1/3 flowey yet short downhill with pretty technical natural terrain, and 1/3 cross country singletrack in between. You can get about six miles in a loop, so do it and do it again.
The only downside of this trail is that you have to go around the whole park a couple of times to find which way you want to ride it because there are three parts worth riding if you start at the trail head off of 61. Recommended Route: Start out off of 61 again - any negative comments below are because they rode the wrong trail - the non-biking trail that is intended for dog walking and running. This trail (the one you should stay the hell away from) is right off of valley creek and not off of highway 61/
However, you do need to get familiar with this trail to ride it the right way. If you don't, you will run into some climbs you will have to walk since you will be going uphill for what is intended is technical downhill.
Start off on the switchback south of the 61 trailhead. Once you climb up keep riding east until you come to battlecreek rd and cross it. Right there you will find classic mtb trails with a switchback, then take a right until you go around a trail that will take you right back to battle creek road. Serious fun, with three technical components, quick up and downs, and a climb that will get your legs tingling.
Then head back across the street then take the downhills to the 61 trailhead. You have two options - either one is challenging, with one longer and more flowey and another which is about seven consecutive small drops that are easy to do an endo on if you get a little nervous.
Other recommended trails in the same area: afton, lowes creek (eau claire, wisconsin about an hour and a half away), lebanon hills

Weekend Warrior Summary: I agree with Dave's summary. I decided to check this trail out after reading a cupple of good reviews on it. When I got there I found it very confusing to find the trail. Everything except the mountain biking trail was marked. I've heard that the land manager wants to or wanted to shut the trail down due to people cutting new trails and stealing signs.... is there still a trail here... some of the trails that look like good mountain biking are marked as dog trails. I kept to the southern part of the park, and didn't get a chance to explore the northern part of the park, which I heard is more technical. I'm not sure I'll go back anytime soon to explore it, unless I get some directions on where it's located. Recommended Route: Not sure, southern part of the park was mostly short warm-up trails, not anything that gets your heart pounding. You may want to explore the northern part of the park for a more challenging course. Other recommended trails in the same area: N/A

, from Hopkins, MN, USA Summary: This trail is really talked-up but I found it very confusing. I've ridden there twice and became completely lost both times. Battle Creek developers really need to refer to Lebanon Hills (MORC?). There needs to be some kind of directional arrows/fences/signs. I found myself going up trails the wrong way (dangerous), missing trails and riding trails repeatedly. From what I read, there is a section of single track on the other side of Battle Creek Rd.? How do you find that? Without some kind of direction, I don't think I'll make the trip past St. Paul to Battle Creek again. Recommended Route: Don't know. Other recommended trails in the same area: Lebanon Hills, River Bottoms, Terrace Oaks

, from Cottage Grove Summary: I cannot believe how many people this place is attracting. I grew up at the base of the big hill on Falcon ave. When I was a wee lad this place was a ski hill in the winter we went everyday after school, and in the summer it was my very own BMX adventure park. My friends and I made most of those trails. We would race from a spot we called "The Top -of -the World" you could see downtown St.Paul from there. It was also a popular party spot for the high school crowd, as you crossed over Battle Creek road we called that "The Bottom-of-the-World" cause you couldn't see nothing or hear nothing. Now I make it back with my sons and explore the same trails that I rode as a kid. If you head to the east on Upper Afton you will run into another spot that used to be called Jordan's Woods but I believe that is mostly tarred paths now. Recommended Route: All over.
