Rolling Hills

Rolling Hills has a surprisingly exciting 3 mile singletrack trail that includes just enough technical elements to delight experienced riders without being impossible to tackle as a MTB newcomer. There are log piles ranging in size from approximately 8 inch high 3 log stacks, to 16+ inch single logs, to a nearly two foot high multi log stack. None are too difficult to conquer at an early stage of MTB skill but can certainly have one kissing the ground with even a slight lapse in concentration. More difficult sections of the trails have bypass routes and are indicated by signs pointing you in the direction of the "Easy Way" or the "Hard Way".

Some stages of the trail are very twisty with multiple climbs and descents, tight trees, and even a few whoop-de-doos along the way. There are also several swooping turns and longer straights to pick up some speed.

The trail often intersects with the paved bike and running trails, so care should be taken when approaching these intersections not to crash with other park patrons.

When you've exited the trail, if you find you haven't had enough, it's just a short ride southeast along the paved road back to the trail head.

Summary:
This trail is fairly close to my house, so I love hopping on the MTB for a quick 30 minute thrash. The downside to this park is that while it's a very fun trail, every time I've ridden it I always wish the trail were longer. I often ride it twice per outing.

I rode this trail the first time I ever took my bike out for what I would consider "Mountain Biking" and conquered the whole trail with just one wipeout while trying to hop over one of the larger logs.

It's a fun trail and it's got a lot to love. I wish it were longer and maybe just a little more difficult/technical but it's hard to beat when it's within easy riding distance from my house. It's a great stop if you're touring the area for MTB trails or just need to get in a quick ride on a weekday evening.
