Prison Trail

Average Rating:    (4 of 5)

Single track that you can ride up the back Marquette Mountain. It takes youto Weasels Gulch at the ski hill. Flows nicely with a few steep inclines on your way up. Two bridges, some muddy sections (at least in the spring). There are a few different ways to take the trail as it branches off here and there. I take it straight up the middle and ride it the same way down. An absolute blast to sail down this thing at full speed. Make sure your breaks work!

This was one of my favorite trails. Unfortunately you can no longer ride the whole trail legally. Part of the trail is on prison property. First they posted "Keep Out" signs all over and then they destroyed the two bridges that cross the Carp River.

Recommended Route:
The trail can still be ridden by starting out on Weasel's Gulch. You can ride down to the prison property and then turn around and climb back up.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Marquette Mountain, South Trails

Please update my last review:
Summary: This trail is now part of the Carp River Loop trail. This trail can be ridden again thanks to the prison granting an easement. It is also part of the Superior Bike Fest Mountain Chase race.
