Cross Country Rider Summary: Went out today for my third ride at TK Lawless, and had a blast. Some pretty bad storms came through two days ago, and we were worried that the trail might be affected - it wasn't, except for one tree that partially blocked the trail between miles 1 and 2. You had to dismount to get around it - might have been able to ride it, but there were some crank grabbing vines that got me...
The trail is fantastic. It has a great workout pace/cadence, in that it mixes up just the right amount of uphill, then some flats, then some potentially fast downhill (if you are brave!). It's been a little soggy here lately, so there are some muddy spots on the course. Most can't be avoided, so just take them as you can.
One of the downhills after mile 6 is pretty sandy. I flew over the handlebars when I took a bad line into the sand a couple of weeks back. Try to not do that. =) Recommended Route: There is only one way. If you get tired, there is an exit at mile 6 that takes you back to the parking area. There is some really fun technical stuff just past the exit (on the trail) that is worth the extra four miles. Other recommended trails in the same area: I've ridden the trails at Andrews, but never alone. The terrain is much more unforgiving there than at Lawless. I'd ride Lawless alone (and have ridden it alone).

Cross Country Rider Summary: Just rode the trail today. Pretty fun, lots of winding singletrack. The end of Mile 3 & all of Mile 4 has some awesome downhills and ramps. Not very technical, most of it is an easy ride. The climbs aren't that bad, just make sure you fly down the downhills. Worth the forty five minute drive from South Bend, IN. Lots of bugs and wild life. Make sure to wear sunglasses and keep your mouth closed because of bugs. Look out for snakes, my friend almost hit one. haha. Other recommended trails in the same area: Wiona Lake is my favorite trail. Its more technical and I love riding along by the creek there. If you haven't been here, you need to go. Also, Rum Village is pretty cool. It's my home trail, lots of stuff jam packed together. Worth the trip.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is one of my favorite trails. The trails aren't technically demanding, but when ridden at a fast pace can be very exciting. There are about 4 nice climbs, but nothing terribly difficult. Both trails combined are a little over 9 miles and can be completed in around 50 minutes. The first trail feels more open and has some nice climbs and decents. The second trail has a good rollercoaster section, however both trails have sections of seemingly endless switchbacks. The trails are hard packed and have little sand, so feel free to really crank it up and fly! Recommended Route: When you finish the first trail you have the option of turning right and going out to the parking lot or turning left and doing the second trail. Definitely do the entire 9.5 miles. Other recommended trails in the same area: Rum Village, Ft Custer, and Yankee Springs

, from Chicago, IL Summary: Good trails, but current signboard at north end of parking lot doesn't help you find them. The trails north of the lot are mostly widetrack jogging trails over rolling hills.
For a warm-up, you can add about 4 miles to the good stuff by doing a loop here. Head to your left, by the covered picnic area and follow the trail over a short, steep hill. After going around a small patch of crops, you come to an intersection. Left takes you on trail 7, which has a good, grinding climb. It dead ends, so you get to fly down that hill on the way back. When you get back to the intersection, keep to your left (except where it would take you to water) until you end up at a paved trail. Take this to the left and you'll get back to the parking lot. Recommended Route: You drive north into the park. Trailhead for the good stuff is on your right and leads south. The trails are on the south side of Monkey Run Street (the road leading to the park).
