Cross Country Rider Summary: The Carp River Loop is a mix of single track and wide old atv trail. There is plenty of climbing as you make your way up the Marquette Mountain ski hill. The climbing has some long gradual climbs as well as some short steep sections. There is a pipeline to ride. Most of the downhills are on tight sweepy singletrack. Once you get to the ski hill there are a number of ways to get down. For novice riders you can ride gown Weasels Gulch ski run or ride halfway across the ski hill and ride the access road back down. Advanced riders can ride down fiddlers creek or finish the loop on the singletrack on the west side of the ski hill. Recommended Route: I like to start off of McClellan Ave trailhead. Start by riding the Gorgeous Loop. This way you will avoid the two track road. Riding the Gorgeous Trail from the trail head ends with a steep climb. Then ride up the mountain and swing back to ride the pipeline. After pipeline ride left down the old atv trail which turns into singletrack all the way down to the Carp River. Cross the river and start climbing to the top of the ski hill. Ride all the way to the top. Get on the mountain access road and ride it till you get to the the radio tower. Then the downhill starts. Keep an eye out for the singletrack on the left. This will pop back out at the bottom on the access road and take you back past the ski chalet. Follow the trail across the Carp River and back to the trail head. Other recommended trails in the same area: Pioneer Loop, Mount Marquette Loop, Flow, Gorgeous.
