8-10 miles of beginner to Intermediate singletrack added in the past two years. Fairly tight and twisty with a lot of short ups and downs. Miles of double track ski trails also. System is still under development and more trails are planned and currently being built.
This is a nice area to take a nice cruise through the woods. Just watch out for "Bambo, the killer whitetail deer."

Summary: Good trails with something for everyone. If you're a real beginner, you can ride around on the ski trails too. Map on the Keweenaw MTB website shows the ski trails and is useless for the MTB rider. However, stop in at Cross Country Sports (great guys, very helpful, love to chat) in Calumet for a current, newly printed map of the current (and expanding) MTB system. I'm quite sure there are well over 12-15 miles of trails now.
Trails are nice if a bit rough compared to some of the trails downstate. Plenty of roots and rocks to deal with but not too bad. As with all the trails in the area, if you have a choice leave your HT at home and bring dual suspension. One main beef: Like a lot of trails the signage is sparse to non-existent. If you don't have the map, just jump in and you'll pop out sooner or later! But this can be frustrating - nothing at the trailhead Chalet, only a few trail name markers inside, and nothing really on the route. Come on, folks, help us newbies out a little!
One of the advantages of riding in the Keweenaw Peninsula is the beautiful scenery everywhere, not just on the trail, and rich copper mining history and historical buildings.
I'd like to rate a 3.5 if I could. Not a 4 due to the lack of markings and refinement, sorry.
Recommended Route: I start at the Chalet and hop on the Applesauce Trail. Burly Trail is rough, technical and slow, but worth a ride. Southside Trail popular as well. New trails being developed yearly.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Mich Tech Trails (fun, lots of jumps and trick areas), Copper Harbor (tough)

Summary: Some very pretty single track. Most of the single track is smooth and flowy with no big climbs. However, The trails added in 2007 are very much 'all mountain', off camber, up and down trail that had me walking through some of the more technical sections.
If you like biking along white water and lakes and deer, then you will certainly like these trails
Recommended Route: I always start from the Swedetown chalet and bike down towards Lake Superior/M203. But you can start at the M203 just down the road from Mclean State Park
Other recommended trails in the same area: Tech trails, Maasto/churning rapids, Copper Harbor (very challenging)

Summary: These trails are great fun! It is really nice to see people making the effort to put networks or areas of single track together like the Swedetown Trails. There is about 15 - 20 miles of sweet, relatively not real technical single track trails built in and around cross country ski and snowshoe trails. The woods of da U.P. are very nice and these trails twist through them very nicely. There is a little mild up and down nature to all the trails and they are great for hammerin (watch for other riders though!). I rode with a beginner and she loved it out there. The trails are easy to get to from US 41 or M 203 and the map is excellent. In short, these trails are great for all wanting a nice twisty ride through the forested, beautious forest of the North.
Recommended Route: Every trail section was great. Do it all!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Michigan Tech trails, stuff around Copper Harbor, and Grand Island
