Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Saginaw, MI Summary: There are two main loops; the "marsh loop" is about 1.2 miles, and the "woods loop" is 3.8 miles. Both loops are easy and great for riders of all abilities. It's almost completely flat except for the "shale pile," which is a small but steep hill of shale leftover from mining days. It's mostly somewhat-wide and smooth singletrack. During summer heat it can get really dry and packed, which is why we call it the "shiawassee speedway," but if it rains, watch out for mud (do not ride in the early spring) and mosquitoes. ***My friend and I have been working on two new sections of trail. One section, about 1 mile, runs along the river and joins the marsh loop to the woods loop. This part is mostly smooth but has a log pile and some small twisty bits. The other section, joining our new river trail to the woods loop at a different spot, is twisty and has some roots, and it's the most technical part of trail here. Recommended Route: Take Center Rd. south from Saginaw Township past West Michigan Rd. and turn left at Stroebel Rd. (it's a dirt road entrance). Other recommended trails in the same area: Pinehaven Rec. Area (easy parts for beginners and more difficult Stubway trail)

, from Bay City Summary: Nice for the view, and easy riding. This is the trail you take your girl and her parents to. And it will make their Huffy's seem like Cannondales. Go real early morning and see wildlife like your on the Discovery channel... The earlier you go, the less people will have scared the creatures away. Don't forget to go to the tower and check out the waterfowl like there's no tomorrow. Recommended Route: Any way you want, they all take you to the same places. Other recommended trails in the same area: If you don't want to drive far, and your in the area... Bay City's state park is boring... but if you get off the trail and go left over the bridge, and then wonder off the trail, there are numerous places to climb and dive.

, from Midland, MI Summary: Nice fast hard trail, mostly wider single tracks. 1 hill that is out of place here but it is a good trail for big chainring traveling. Nice area for wildlife, if you don't see deer or some other animals you are doing something wrong. Good for family or fast workouts. Recommended Route: All are about the same Other recommended trails in the same area: PineHaven, Sanford

, from Saginaw, MI, USA Summary: Well it's pretty flat except for the shale hill, there is one ridge where you build up some decent speed. Gets you out into the woods though and is good little workout if you ride all the loops. This trail beats riding the sidewalk or road which is about the only other local place to ride. Recommended Route: Ride it all
