Cross Country Rider Summary: Went walking there yesterday in cold packed snow. Saw one set of biking tracks. I'll bring my skis or bike next time. I think this terrain is very promising (except for a bit of sand). There are some cool sections that need work on clearing and there are no toys/stunts as far as I have discovered, but the main existing trails are okay and it's much closer to East Lansing than Burchfield. It would be cool to build in a few more twisty loops. Recommended Route: Take Woodbury Rd north off I69 to the first parking area on left (about 1/2 mile up just before the crest of the hill. There are several parking areas all around this spot; Woodbury (east side) is paved; Peacock is not (west side).
For the ride, stay off the central trunk as much as possible.

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: Basically this is a great practice trail, it has a little bit of almost everything. It has fast sweeping turns, tight turny sections, soft sand (If you do the Iceman, you need to practice this.), log piles, rocky hills, roots, mud and small drops. And everything can be ridden both directions, so keep your eyes open.
Basically, I believe you ride and enjoy a trail for what it is, but the beauty of this trail is it's versatility. Ride smooth and fast like Island Lakes (or the vasa single track), rough with roots and rocks and hills (although smaller) like Poto or practice log piles for when you ride Burchfield or Custer (the log piles are smaller but more difficult at rose lake). Recommended Route: That's the beauty of it, make it up as you go. What's your goal for that day!!! Learning the trail. Think of it as a rectangle cut down the middle by the east/west main trail (the part everyone says is boring, ride it so you'll recognize when you cross it). Then there's a complete outer circle from which all trails (but 2) will bring you back to the main trail. Of the 2 trails that don't bring you back, the one on the south side is just a circle itself and brings you back to where you were, the other (on the north) is a long trail out to another circle and you head back in. If you miss the circle you come out on the road about 1/3 mi from where you parked. Just start over. Other recommended trails in the same area: Potowatomi, Island Lakes, Ft. Custer, Burchfield

Reviewed by: TrialsRider Summary: Not marked but who cares. Explore, baby! Non-directional, but who cares. Just keep your head up like you should. Bits and pieces of everything here. Some technical to hone your skills and if you think trail riding is nothing but speeding then there are a few sections you can do that on. There is sand but if you don't like that you aren't a true trail rider. Learn to ride in it. Some muck spots on wet days but could to practice your balance on. Hills are short and sweet. This place is ususally uncrowded and that's cool. Gives you the feeling of being deep in the woods at times. This is good practice turf. Recommended Route: All of it. Other recommended trails in the same area: Burchfield.

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once
| |
Reviewed by: whyz Summary: Update to my previous review. For the record, I logged about 9.5 miles exploring the singletrack off the main artery, including the last trail to the right mentioned by Andrew below. I may not have seen every inch of trail, but I think it is safe to assume I saw most. I never found anything I would call fun.

, from Lansing Summary: Geez, Whyz, sounds like you didn't explore Rose Lake very well. Sorry you missed all the good stuff out there. Flat? Ya, the main trail artery is flat and ride. But, you have to explore the offshoots which lead you to some of the good stuff. There's enough out at Rose Lake to fully practice your technique and ride it hard and you'll get your cardio blast. Sidewalk through the woods? Hardly, my fellow biker. Recommended Route: Take all the offshoots from the main trail to fully investigate this place
