Cross Country Rider Summary: I have been riding Maybury a lot this year since it is only 5 miles form my house. Overall, the trail is pretty rewarding because after every uphill, you almost immediately recieve a nice downhill to blast down.
It is kind of fast, my average speeds are just over 10mph, with a peak speed around 21mph. (I am just so-so, not super fast - I have talked to some of the guys coming out of the trail that say they are doing it in under 30 mins).
It has a pretty long gradual uphill around the 3.2 mile mark that used to wipe me out, but if you learn to carry your speed, that hill (and most of the other hills on the trail) become pretty easy.
It is 6.4 miles long, my best lap time is 34:56, but the first time I rode it I think I was somewhere around 43 minutes.
There are a couple of sections with some different lines where you go through some rocks or over a log section. Wish there were a couple more of those... Recommended Route: Do two laps for a good workout. Other recommended trails in the same area: Tree Farm (lakeshore park) = my favorite. A good mix of all kinds of riding. The $30 annual pass cost is a bummer.
Highland Rec is a very difficult ride, but enjoyable.
Holdridge East Loop is pretty awesome (difficult).
Hickory Glen is fast and REALLY twisty.
Brighton State Park has a long loop (forgot the name) which was difficult and NOT enjoyable.
Island Lake is really fast and easy. Do both loops in under an hour.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I rode Maybury today and I was quite impressed. No steep climbs, but a fair amount of gradual climbing. The first part of the course was very tight and you had to keep the speeds down. After a couple miles like this the trail opens up and you can start carrying some serious speed. In this section the trail has mostly fast turns, and at some points the vegetation closes in very tight on the sides making for awesome high speed blind corners. The ending portion of the trail has the most technical stuff. More rocks and roots in this area. At one point there is a choice between three different lines at the bottom of a hill. Take the one on the right (unless you want to go slow over rock gardens and log piles)! I learned the hard way what a 20mph endo feels like. Recommended Route: Do the whole loop on starting from the trail head. I rode it twice for a great workout. Other recommended trails in the same area: Novi Tree Farm

Weekend Warrior Summary: Reviewing previous posts, I believe that the trail has significantly changed over the years. I have ridden the trail since ~97, and the 2007 version is much improved. The trail is constantly revised (even in May this year) to avoid overly rutted areas and keep the trail fresh. I have also not had a problem with too many people on the trail; on a perfect day, I might pass a couple of riders.
As stated below, this is a tight, technical trail. You will not be going in one direction for any significant period of time, and speeds will be moderate over many uphill and downhill sections.
A number of obstacles have been added to the sides of trail as 'go for it' expert sections. These include rockpiles and stacks of logs. They are all marked, and you can bypass them if you're not interested.
2-3 laps are ideal for a good workout, and the closeness to Detroit makes it easy to have an after-work ride, or morning ride on a weekend when an all-day event isn't possible.
I think this trail is perfect for once-a-week riders with limited free time. Recommended Route: There is only one branch - the 'winter bypass' or the expert loop. I have never taken the 'winter bypass', and the expert loop has easy tracks beside all of the obstacles, so I recommend the expert loop.

Weekend Warrior Summary: This trail is possibly on of my favorite trails that I’ve ridden. It is a Quite Technical Trail that offers riders of all levels to enjoy. There are defiantly a lot of ruts and there sections that are quite challenging. The trial is just over 4.5 miles long but there are only two sections that you get momentum going so you’re pedaling the whole trail. All it got to say is its fun.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Please, learn the name--its MayBURY not MayBERRY. This is not a kids cereal, it's a state park--big sign, as you enter!
Enough of my rant.
Wonderful little trail. I've ridden it for years and after dropping several pounds, I find it even easier with practice, although if you do not stay in practice, this trail can be a challenge.
When in good shape, I can ride it three or four times, but then I get bored, so I don't do that too often. I like to do it twice--once to warm up and twice to have a good ride. The third time would be counter-productive. Recommended Route: Park at the 8 mile entrance and proceed to the trail. Alternatively, you can park at the Beck Road entrance and ride into the trail at the opposite end. Take your pick. I find the 8 Mile entrance is more appealing. Other recommended trails in the same area: Pontiac Lake, Island Lake, Brighton, Poto.
