Summary: These runs are really fun for anybody who likes adrenaline. There are runs for all skill levels. I call them runs not trails because you go up, then you come down. There is also such a maze of trails around here but you will seldom be riding on flat terrain. The access from Copper Ridge puts you nearest the bulk of the really fun runs. This area has no beginner runs and you need to watch where you are going because there is some really big stuff. 10'+ drops, etc. This place has been fun since I was little and it is getting better due to the hard work of a couple guys. Thank them if you see them!
Recommended Route: From Copper Ridge lot. Stay left and climb all the way up to the top. Once on top, hang a right and go to the first trail to the right. It starts with a 2' drop and then a couple big launches that are really smooth. Just keep going from there until you end up back at the parking lot.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Singletracks off the VASA 10k and 25k trailhead.

Summary: what is this about THE hospital trail? there are so many. go up silver lake road turn into copper ridge, travel back over some under construction lots into a remote lot, that's your trailhead. freeride and downhillers head up the two track on the right, turn right, then take a sharp left, its easy to miss, then go straight and then go until you hit a jump. (Crosscountry i dont know where you spandex clad guys go) you will end up in a valley with all manner of stunts. there is 2 pallet drops, a log skinny, a 2by6 aframe skinny, a double drop ladder, some dirt jumps, and a log ride to 7 foot drop. the drop looks a little wierd proportionally, the landing is short and close to the drop, if you know what you are doing, feel free to take up a shovel and fix that landing.it needs it. you can go up to the pallet drops and turn left, you hit a trail that has lots of little log drops.fun. at the top by the pallet drops, turn left onto a wide trail that has lots of little rollers, go down that until you go through a small ravine. go to the begining of that and look to the left. a huge step up of about eight-ten feet is there. you gotta have caahhoonees! to do this, just hit it going fast and its so much fun. after that ride to the roller trail and when there is a sharp turn to the right, go along that until you get to some dirt jumps. there is a small one to the left, but it has tons of hang time, its realy fun! the bigger one is burly, but it is doable, go past those and up the wide trail, and there is a totally HUGE gap, (if you can do this, talk to modern extreme sports, because we want to meet you!)i didnt take measurments, but this thing is like a huge road gap. that is the majority of freeride stuff, but there are some more real good trails, hook up with the MESS Modern Extreme SportS to get a guide or group ride time.
Recommended Route: i sort of told you already, right?
Other recommended trails in the same area: VASA dirt jumps, ask at Modern for a local who lives right there to ride with you

Summary: This trail is sweet, if you know where to go. This trail has steep downhills and great jumps ranging from rollers, to ladder drops, gaps, and a spectacular step up. My advise is go to the very top, past the first radio tower, up and to the left. After that take every side trail you can find. There are also some trials stunts being built. If you do go here, make sure to hit the step up (near the bottom of the central roller hill and to the left), it's sweet and has a perfect landing.

Summary: While this trail network is not a very good one if your into long distance rides it does offer some serious technical excitement that is hard to find in Northern Michigan. Since I live only two minutes away I use it for "quickies" during the week when I can't get out to the VASA Single Track.
I recommend this trail for anyone. For those of you that are hitting the awesome downhill portions, PLEASE use both brakes and try not to skid and slide your rear tires. I did some work up there this spring (cleared downed trees, added logs to the downhill side of the switch backs, etc.) If we don't control ourselves it will erode and fall apart.
Also, a lot of people from town use it for hiking, dog walking and running. It would be super sad to see the Commons shut off to us Mountain Bikers. Please be courtesy, slow down when you see people up ahead. Especially if you see a dog, dogs like to chase and bite, I have a scar to prove it. After you pass someone with a dog go slow for a bit so that the dog doesn't chase you and leave the owner pissed.
Have fun, wear a helmut, make sure your brakes work.

Recommended Route: Lots of interconnecting trails. I start uphill from the school on the far left looking at the tower. Ride up to the tower and pass it, stay on the ridge up there all the way to the right and then down to the old road back there, repeat as neccesary.
Other recommended trails in the same area: VASA Single Track, Grand Traverse County off of supply road

Summary: You will start by climbing several mild but challenging uphill's. If you see what sorta looks like rolling grassy sand dunes then your on the wright path, cross these till you'll reach a fork and you'll go to the left which will take you to a ridge that leads to an awesome downhill which will complete that loop wear you start over agin. One loop is about 4.5 miles.
Recommended Route: There are many entrances to the trail so which ever one you come in on, find your way to the main trail and begin a clockwise direction.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Hickory Hills is even better, much more challenging and technical.
