Addison Oaks

Basically, they let you ride your mountain bike on the cross-country ski trails. The trails are quite wide and only mildly hilly.

Summary:
Great flowy 6+ miles of singletrack that crosses two track, paved paths, horse trails and hiking trails. Older reviews saying it's all two-track or ski trails are out of date. Some intermediate climbs and downhills where you can really get some speed, some technical sections with skinny bridges and rock gardens. Great views of the area lakes and nature.

Recommended Route:
singletrack loop from the trail head

Other recommended trails in the same area:
similar to Maybury and Stony Creek

I have been watching this trail develop over the last couple of years and I think that it is the most fun trail that i have ridden I SE Mi. Whoever is doing all the work is doing a great job.

Recommended Route:
Follow the signs

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Bald Mountain, no where near as fun as Addison

Summary:
This trail has changed a lot recently. Some new areas provide a great route. Most importantly this is a FUN ride. It is fast, and there are some great sections. It is not the most difficult, it is does not have any areas that are extremely challenging, but it is a great ride. There is a section that isn't marked and is one of the best parts in my opinion. The trail goes across the paved path, then after a short stint dumps back onto the paved trail for about 1/8 mile. The trail starts back up on the right side and is another long section of great riding.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stony Creek, Bloomer, Bald Mountain

Summary:
First off, Many of the reviews on this trail are old old old. Addison Oaks, is a County park, with 6+ miles of single track. I say 6+ because they are currently (July 2008) building new trail almost daily. In the past the park itself has limited the access and availability of land usable for single track, however due to the diligence of the MMBA and a very dedicated team of trail coordinators many additional acres have been given to use for single track. Addison oaks is one of the funnest, fastest, and most well built trails in SE michigan. In the past it was not well market, and I think that could account for some people thinking it was only double track or through fields- this is not the case anymore. If you have not ridden Addison in years, give it another chance- It is a great, highly developed trail that offers fun around every turn.

I find it funny that some bemoan addison for wide trails (which is currently is 80%+ tight singletrack) then suggest Bald mountain is more fun. Bald mountain is entirely doulbetrack!!!!

Also, the description on this site of the trail is wrong, it is not mostly cross country trails w/ bikes allowed in the summer- it is mostly tight singletrack now.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stony creek, highland, pontiac lake recreation, bloomer is alright but poorly market- expect to ride around lost for hours, island lake, novi tree farm.. I could go on, check MMBA.org for a full listing of EVERY trail in MIchigan. Knobbytiretours.com for guided tours if you wish to ride without the stress of planning.

Summary:
This was way too man made. They try to fit as much trail as possible onto a postage stamp area. The rocks in the trail were more of a pain than a trail feature. You keep seeing the same thing because you already massed the same feature but from 10 feet away.

Recommended Route:
Skip it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stoney creek is better, and much more economical. Bloomer park is also a step up.
