Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Ann Arbor Summary: Yes this is a paved path that doesn't need fat tires but you can link to Island Lake from there. The setting is very beautiful at any time of year. It is good for conditioning and practicing with your new clipless pedals... Counter cloackwise gives you some long sneaky uphills that'll have you standing up or gearing down even as you blow by some young lady skater in hot pants...steep downhills will test the accuracy of your bike computer. Tacking on the short road out to Turtle Island around and back makes the trail 10 miles (not counting an Island Lake extensions). This is a place for a fun and relaxing ride. Recommended Route: Counterclockwise:starting from west boat launch lot

, from Royal Oak, MI Summary: The paved trail is really nice. People are pretty good about staying on their side of the path. It is a beautiful park. There are usually deer too. Of all the metro parks I have been to, this one is my favorite. I like the fact that the path is a loop so that I don't have to back track, and 8 miles is perfect! Even though I personally wear a helmet when I ride, I am very annoyed that this "free" country has allowed a law to pass in the city that requires us to wear one - and the cops monitor the trail, let's put our tax dollars to capturing real criminals instead. Other than that annoyance, it's a refreshing and uplifting ride - rain or shine. I highly recommend it. Recommended Route: Both routes are great.

, from Pittsfield Summary: It really is not all that bad! Yes, many many little girls and boys on huffys! Yes, you have to dodge fat ladys with little rat dogs! Yes, its not dirt or dirty! But, yes you can get over 30 miles an hour going down hill (speed limit is 10 mph and I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS, IT'S CRAZY AND DANGEROUS)! But yes its a beautiful place to go for a ride, without thinking to hard! Recommended Route: Clockwise Other recommended trails in the same area: Island lake
