Summary:
I also grew up in this town and recently went for a ride in Bearsden (1,000 acre woods). Definitely some tough climbs and some of the descents are very fast w/ loose rocks. I stuck to the fire roads as the trails are not clearly marked. The signs are few far between and none of which point you back to the parking lot. Easy to get lost up there so bring a cell phone you get great service as the cell towers are on the top of the hill. Nice views and lots of wildlife so go check it out.

Summary:
I grew up in this town and the Bears Den area is primarily known as a hiking area. But there are a ton of trails out there so I decided to take my mountain bike out there the last time I went home to visit. It was tough but definitely a lot of fun. I only rode the old dirt roads as those were challenging enough for me but I know there is also a ton of single track hiking trails which would be very challenging. This whole area is right in the middle of a couple of small mountains so the terrain is very steep and loose at points. It is also very secluded and out in the middle of nowhere so be careful and make sure to bring plenty of supplies.

Recommended Route:
Just follow Bears Den road up the mountain until you come to the dirt parking lot at the end of the road out in the woods.
