Ward Reservation
1 reviews
 4 of 5

Ward Reservation has the highest peak in Essex County, Holt Hill @ 420 ft.. Most people call this Ward Hill. There is second hill call Boston Hill. Both offer great views all the way into Boston. The trails are labeled pretty well in the reservation and are mostly smooth fast trails. Technical climbing and trails can be found with ease. Great place to do some fast loops w/o many people. Typically I am one of few bikers in the place. Ward Reservation is on the BCT. Following the BCT will take you onto Harold Parker through AVIS land or back through Andover. Various areas can be mucky in the wet months.

Summary:
Trails range from smooth to rocky. The areas around North East can be wet but offer the fast smooth singletrack. There is an easy fireroad climb to the top of Ward Hill or you can take one of the more challenging routes. Boston Hill is a bit more remote, see if you can find the old ski lift. The up and down of Boston Hill will be rocky and fun. Great views from both Boston Hill and Ward Hill. Fun place to ride without having to know every square inch to find a good trail.
