Cross Country Rider Summary: I used to put down the montague plains as bland and unchallenging, but after becoming a dedicated night and winter rider, I've changed my tune. At night and when the icy snow blankets the ground this expansive gem in montague/leverett really shines. You can ride pretty fast here and log the miles, while their are no prolonged killer climbs, their is enough rolling terrain and sudden upswings to give even the fittest rider a good work out. also, riders of widely varying abilities can ride together and still have a good time, it's a great group ride/night ride area. My rating below is seasonally rated. Recommended Route: Like the above sign says, check in with the folks at bikes-unlimited on High Street in Greenfield, they ride tues/thurs nights and sunday afternoons all winter long, or check their web page for maps at www.bikes-unlimited.com Other recommended trails in the same area: Toby, Deerfield Ridge, Greenfield Ridge, Coke Plant, Gill, Catamount and of course Hawley.
