Weston Trail System

From wide fire roads to nice singletrack. Every thing you want in a trail water, streams, drop offs, roots, sadn, and rocks. BUT IT MAYBE CLOSED TO BIKERS BY WALKERS SOON SO KEEP THE TRAILS OPEN!
There are many entances in Lincoln and Weston but the one I enter by is in Wayland. Go on the 126 north towards Walden pond find Glezen land about 3 miles from Wayland Town center. follow up the road until you find Wayland Swim and Tennis this a entrance.
Summary: As I said in the cat rock review, i'm biased because i learned to ride here before i had the means and knowledge to go to lynn, nam, the fells, and blue hills. don't bother riding anything but doublett hill unless you're looking for a workout that only affords the excitement of dodging the dog crap left by all of the idiot dog walkers. I haven't ridden much in weston in 2 or 3 years even though my parents still live there and sometimes i do too. if you have the means go to some of the bigger more techincal places in EMASS, they are a lot more fun. weston is good if you live there though. because i grew up riding these trails i have to give them 4 stars...even though i'd probably find them pretty lame at this point.
Recommended Route: from 128 take rt30 west. When you get to a left for oak st, take the right, i forget what the road is called. park at the end of this, and ride along the doubletrack that is a continuation of the road. eventually you'll hit the reservoir loop. stay on that until you get to the pumphouse for the reservoir. take a right there onto the aqueduct. follow that across newton st. and stay on it as it crosses 3 or 4 holes at pinebrook golf course. after you cross the golf course you'll have to go around a gate. you can take lefts from there, and they'll eventually lead you to the top of doublett hill. there are several loops you can do in this area. it's pretty easy to find your way around, especially if you use the aqueduct, water tower, and adjacent neighborhoods as boundaries. The summit of doublett hill is obvious because you can see boston. if you ride west from there it is a decent granite section that is ok in both directions, and ends in a steep granite downhill. Once you're on top of Doublett all the trails are kind of fun. go back to your car the same way. skip all of the other trails unless you're just looking to do some pedaling around. Only other trail i would recommend would be starting at the reservoir parking lot, going south on ash street there will be a doubletrack with a gate on the left. ride that doubletrack to a point where a singletrack breaks off left, kind of doubling back. follow this--it's very twisty, with some interesting log crossings and hopping opportunities.

Summary: Remember the movie "The Stepford Wifes"? Well this is the Stepford Trails. A mind numbing, uniform, homogeneous system of suburban trails. A good place for beginners because the climbing is minimal and technical requirements are low. Mostly pine trees...generate a lot of roots which limit the speed you can attain. Personally, I find it one of the most boring places to ride but that's just me. Pros - It is well maintained, pristine and expansive.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Try Rock Meadow and McLean. You'll get the same easy terrain but with more variety and climbing.
