Stow Town Forest

The Town forest has many features to it, In it you will find the following; single tracks, double tracks, some fire roads, sand pits, down hills, challenging terrain etc. There are endless trails for all abilities, you wont get lost so don't worry.
Take 495, go off exit 27, take 117 east through bolton in to Stow. You will get to a 4-way stop light. There should be a Texaco station on the right. Go straight through the stop light. You will pass the Police Station on the Left, continue down the road a half mile. Bradly Lane will be on your right. Travel all the way to the end of the road, past the cow farm and all! After the hair pin turn there will be a big dirt parking lot. The trail head is past the gate. ENJOY
Summary: Some great trails. Takes some time to learn the place, it is pretty big. Has some built-for enjoyment twisty loopy singletrack that puts you right back where you started, a great switchback descent, some real loose fast descents, off camber singletrack, fireroads, lots of medium-technical trails, lots of dirt-bike style trails. The trail map is a joke, the only way to learn this place is to explore.
Recommended Route: Through the gate, go straight, up the hill then down, there's a rooty/steep entrance to single track, follow this, go left at a few forks, you'll go down a steep rooty descent then come up to a clearing. go straight, some fast trees through there, nice little jump into a right hand turn. Turns left through low area, go left to do a little technical or play on MX jumps. Either way, you'll end up in a big sand-pitish clearing with evidence of parties and motocross fun. Take the south-east exit near the edge of the other, commerical sandpit. Take another left, keep going east. Eventually you will get to a raised area with alot of trail junctions. This place is where it all happens. If you take the trail towards the south up the little hill you can either go right (w) for the super-sketch loose steep descent or go right for the switchback descent. If you take the switchbacks, follow the trail then go right at the next junction. This will eventually dump you out near a weird little party area with some firepits and a staircase down down to the river. Go left (E) and follow the trail until it makes a u-turn back towards the river and passes by the staircase. This trail is gold...
Other recommended trails in the same area: If you go straight in from the gate, take the first right, then the fireroad AT&T left, take the first-ish right and you will come to a bunch of dirt-bikey singletrack. This area might have some private property going on...so... There is a big motocross track/ circuit near the orchard which is definitely on private property, kinda neat but silly on a mtb since you don't have the speed to make the jumps. I don't know who owns it so I would be careful as not to get shot at by them motocrossing farmers.
Check out Vaughn Hill / Bower's Spring in Bolton... LSF of course too.

Summary: I ride here 3 days a week. This place is actually a very good place to ride in my opinion. This is coming from someone who rides lynn woods and Vietnam. You have to go deep too find the goods but they are indeed there. I have found everything here, tech single track, fireroads, drops, challenging downhills and motorcycle jumps. In fact I have found few drops here that cause some serious grinage. There is suprisingly a good variety . The perfect bike for this place is a 5-6 inch travel free ride bike. I ride my Bullit here and some of the climbs you have to jump off your ride and walk up. If you search further into the woods you will find the real tresures. It links up to a sand pit area that has some nice stuff to mess around on. If you live within 40 minutes of here it's definately worth checking out. But be prepared to spend some time to find the goods. If you are further away just go to lynn woods or Nam.
Recommended Route: Take the main entrance in and go strait over the bridge. Take your first right go further up and take a left onto the fireroad. Climb up about 300 ft and take a right into the dense wooded area. Peddle in that direction and you will find some good stuff. There is also some fun loose rock downhill action along the edge of the lake that is super fast.
To get a taste of this place just stay along the edge of the water and you can't really go wrong.

Vietnam

Summary: I wish I had a better way to detail the loop I like other than "take a right at the funny looking tree" etc. All offer are tips: the hill is in the middle, the property is small and there is a map at the entrance of the woods. The map details the fire roads and the x-c skiing trails, but it's a good frame of reference. Good luck and enjoy, that's why youre out there to begin with... Right?
Recommended Route: I try to ride the outer rim of the property with a few jaunts into the inner reaches of the property. The place is not well marked, but it's a small area. If you ride for the first time, do so well before sunset (common sense for all).
Other recommended trails in the same area: If you like this trail you will like Great Brook State Farm.

Summary: Be careful during hunting season. There are hunters are the adjoining land, which is private, although not well marked. I would recommend skipping this place in the Fall. Its not that great and its just not worth it.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Lynn Woods, Middlesex Fells, Ravenswood Park
