Doubletrack, twisty technical singletrack, fast singletrack, all dirt, rock, roots, great trail system.
Go to the gardner golf course clubhouse, take a left out of the parking lot and go for about a quarter mile. There will be a parking area and a yellow gate at the bottom of the hill on the right.
Summary: From what I understand there once was a lot of singletrack here but theres not all that much left. I've found a couple good loops, and quite a bit more very old trails that could use some work. This summer (2007) me and my buddies are looking to rebuild some of the old unused loops and cut a few more. Also we're planning on bridging the small brook and making some nice stunts (maybe even a teeter-toter) PM me (G-VegasMTBiker) if your from the area and would like to lend a hand.
Recommended Route: The best loop be far is the one around the lake: From the yellow gate, head down the railroad bed. As you head down you'll have two options, although they both lead to the same place
Option 1:
you should see a fork to the left, you can take this trail if you want, but you'll have to go through a water crossing about 2.5 ft deep (nice when its hot out), after the water keep heading down the trail about 20 yards, and you should see a stone wall on the left. Keep watching until you see a break in the wall, thats the trail you want.
Option 2:
Go past the first fork on the left and keep heading further down the railroad bed. Right as the forest opens up you should see a 2nd left turn going down the hill. Head down that path until you see another path splitting off to the left. Take that path, head down the small hill and look for a break in the wall on your right, thats the trail you want
This trail takes you all the way around the lake, take the left fork every time the trail splits.

Recommended Route: Any. look out for the knuckleheads on the atvs. there used to be some pretty good singletrack out there but everything is wide open now. good place to take your grandma for a walk. i'm not giving a route because my loop is the only one that is still in tact. the only time i ride out there is when i'm to lazy to drive to leomister to ride with roadies...they are also going to pave the rr beds which lead out there for a "bike path". you want to make a bike path? add some 10footer's, some skinny's, and maybe a teeter totter or two..let the roadies ride on the road
Other recommended trails in the same area: leominster..i heard they're paving this too.

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Summary: A great mix of technical and nontechnical fast singletrack, doubletrack, railroad beds, mostly hardpack, some rooty rocky stuff, and in the spring, a lot of mud!
Recommended Route: Here's some more specific directions- Rte 2 to exit 23, follow signs for hospital, go past hospital (it will be on your left) and take the next left which is Park Street (right next to the Golf Course, across the street from Mt. Wachusett Community College) And continue on that road till you see a parking area on the right (at the bottom of the hill, not the one at the top) which is about a mile from the beginning of Park St. The trailhead is at the yellow gate which ya cant miss. For a good loop, take that trail to the first fork and take a left. Continue on, you will come to a sort of "bridge"- the reservoir will be on your left and a little pond on your right. As soon as this heads back into the woods, take the first trail on the left, which is marked with orange dots. This loop takes you around the reservoir if you keep bearing left. When you get to the cliffs (advanced riders can scale this with speed) take a right and take the trail to an intersection where you take another right. Keep on this trail, there is a cool descent, a rock garden, and a real fast windy singletrack section. You will come to a doubletrack and you will take a right. This comes to another intersection, right takes you back to the main railroad beds via "Bourque Hill" (our riding buddy had the most impressive crash I have ever seen on that hill, so we named it for him!) left takes you to more singletrack to explore, and straight takes you up the hill for the ultimate technical descent of "Mud Hill" We usually go straight, and plow down Mud Hill, and end up back at the railroad beds. You take a right onto the beds and it leads you back to the main gate. This is about a 10 mile loop, but there are many more out there.

Recommended Route: Sorry Dick, but I don't think you are being real helpful here slamming a place you have never been or are too pigheaded to look at a map and figure out, or ask for directions when you get there?! There are signs for the golf course and everyone knows where it is from this town. I should inform you that there is a lot more than you could probably imagine west of 495- yes 7/8ths of the state!!! Open your eyes!

Recommended Route: Yeah, then what, genius?? My point is that people are putting up horrible directions (if any at all) to these places, and it's a waste of time. I'm not going to drive from the South Shore all the way to Gardner only to find out that I can't find this place. (It's at least 1.5 hours away) Also, out of state folks may want to try trails listed here, but they also won't be able to find the trails with the weak directions listed. This is supposed to be a helpful site, not a hinderance.
