Mount Greylock State Res.
3 reviews

This can go from easy to impossible in seconds! I would strongly recommend !ONLY! advanced bikers take this trail. The main trail, Bellow Pipes, is, in my mind, humanly impossible. Mount Greylock is 3478 ft. and the highest point in Mass. Is was a supposed to be a ski resort so the up hill climb is a straight shot up, with loose rocks and roots. The climb is fun at first but after awhile it gets rediculous. The down hill after that is also a straight shot down with nasty, but fun, drops and loose rocks. It can be VERY DANGEROUS for anybody under advanced. If you don't ride at least 2 times a week I don't want to see you on this trail. In conclusion, it is a very fun challenge.

Summary:
I ride a lot and consider myself a strong rider. I found the bellows pipe trail to be very challenging, I had to push the bike up through a few rough and splippery rocky areas, but I would do it again, but not everyday! Old Adams Road is a moderate ride up after you get past the first couple of switch backs its not bad. I made a big mistake and attempted to ride up chelsey harbor trail as a "shortcut" to the summit and the loose rock and steepness ate me up. But the summit was cool and the ride back down on the pavement is a good reward for the climbing. If your an expert rider and want to get you butt kicked, have fun. If you don't ride regularly, you'll find these trails a torture chamber! Hike them instead.

Recommended Route:
First try Old Adams road.

Summary:
This trail was a humbling experience. Thought I could do it, but got tired of pushing my bike up hill I finally did the whole trail, but I would not describe the afternoon as one of my better experiences on my bike. Adams Road trail from the Jones Nose parking lot is alot more doable. Maps available at the Visitor Center

Summary:
I have been all over, Toas, Mt. Snow, Killington, Fruita, but never have I had my ass handed to me so easily. Though I may be only 3500 ft, because it is so steep it seems like your climbing 9430294230 miles in the air. It is fun, very fun, but I challenge you, try this mountain, I guarentee you will talk about over all others.

Recommended Route:
All of them, they all have something you want. Bellows pond (or pipes) is the nasty one.
