Manning Park and Billerica State Forest

Like most New England woods there is a fair share of roots. These trails are not totally loaded but there are some bumpy sections. There is also a fair amount of rocks (some loose) on the steep climbs. There are a few shallow streams in Prison Trails, that and other than the Concord River these woods are fairly dry. Likely because of the large amounts of thirsty Pine trees. If there is ever any mud it usually dries with in a day of the last rainstorm.

Trail Directions
The Best way to get to Manning Park is from Route 3, take Exit 29 and head toward Billerica on 129/Chelmsford RD. About 3/4 of a mile on the left side look for the brown gates. There is plenty of parking, no restrooms, or camping sites.

Ridden Trail:
Once a week

Summary:
I really enjoy these trails, I ride this area usually 4 to 5 times a week. This a good ride to blow off some steam after work. Some of the trails run parallel to route 3. This is a good place to laugh at commuters who are stuck in gridlock traffic. The trails are mix of single and double tracks. You may occasionally encounter a runner or horseback rider but these times are rare. For the most you own the trails. Downhill grade on the way out makes for a quicker second half of the ride.
