Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Williamsburg MA Summary: Its all beautiful singletrack once you get off the Jeep Eater, and you're surrounded by birch trees and mountain laurel the whole time. Lots of dips and rolling hills and the occasional big hill. Recommended Route: Sneak in near 1812 Auto Repair on the Florence end, if you're in Leeds you can start at the bottom of the Jeep Eater itself... its somewhere I think on resivoir road. Just keep riding, you'll always come out onto a road (maybe in another town =)... my favorite route is to climb the Jeep Eater (making it all the way up without stopping or putting a foot down is a true test of balance and stamina!) then either the steep rocky downhill to the Army Barracks (near 1812 Auto) or the long technical mostly-downhill Ice House run, which I think is some of the best singletrack I've ever ridden. Other recommended trails in the same area: Amethyst Brook/Power Lines in Amherst

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Enfield, CT Summary: I used to live on Route 66 about 2 miles from the Sylvester Road trailhead. This is a seriously challenging trail - I'm not sure if I've ever cleard the whole thing. Lots of rocks, very steep loose climbes, and heart-attack downhills. The downhill sections are not the fast type, more of a lesson in trying to keep your back wheel attached to the earth. One of those trails that if you crash hard, hope you know a good knee surgeon. The trail opens up a little towards the end and has a decent downhill blast before getting to the National Guard area. It's not a very long ride, but challenging. Plus afterwards, the ride into downtown Northampton for refreshments is a good ending. A five-star for difficulty. Recommended Route: Start from the Sylvester Road (off Ryan Road), this puts you into the steep, rocky climbing. The trail dumps out at the Nat. Guard base. From there, you can take the road towards Rt 66 (Florence Road), then left onto Burts Pit Road. Follow Burts Pit to the trails above the old State Hospital and then come out at the Smith College Athletic fields. Now you can play in the downtown traffic of Northampton, or grab a bite to eat. Other recommended trails in the same area: M & M trails in Amherst.

Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from West Suffield, CT Summary: The Jeep eater is a difficult climb...especially with the myriad of ruts from 4x4s. You want to hit this trail with the just right conditions to actually clear the whole thing....not too wet or too dry. Starting from the street- nearly everyone I know can clear the lower section. The upper part, with multiple cliff/steps is a challenge to all except trials riders. At the top keep going and look to the right for a trailhead....this eventually connects to Ice House. Recommended Route: Connect from Ice House trail....don't know the street names, sorry. Other recommended trails in the same area: Mt Tom, BearHole, MuddBudd Territory (north of RT202 near BearHole).

, from Eastampton Summary: This is an awesome ride! There are great descents and really good cliff drops. This is as technical as it gets for the locals! Recommended Route: Start at the Army Barraks in Leeds. Ride around the back and try to stay out of the sight of soldiers. Just ride this trail forever.
